Slashdot does not meet two social media requirements that I have not added to the wikipedia article yet.
1) Must have an app on both iOS an Android
2) Must allow photo uploads from the app.
I love the irony of an AC posting about the original Slashdot audience! I think the original Slashdot was more focused on science and technology, and did not care at all about personal philosophical beliefs. That's the part of Slashdot that I miss the most.
This. I've been reading this site for well over a decade (yes, I made a UID after several years of lurking), and I will move on when I can no longer access Classic.
This. The site has gotten worse and worse, and it seems like I was left with the B Ark. The new. Beta site is horrible, and I keep getting redirected to it. It is coming whether I like it or not, and it might be the change that pushes the rest of the good contributors over to whatever site they all went to.
I know it's not a guarantee, but the Terms of Service require that you sign up for an account with real your real information. They also state that you can only have one account.
I think you missed the usage note on the root word "infer." Infer is commonly understood to mean the same thing as "imply." Look it up: infer.
I'm wondering how the statement "Like the rest of Like the rest of the Boomers' children and grandchildren (etc), I've learned from their mistakes as I clean up their mess and learn to survive the aftermath." does not imply that the vast majority of your generation is more environmentally responsible.
To be clear, you're asserting that it's good for most Linux distributions to provide the end user with all the software that they need so that they won't need to run a third party executable.
Would it also be good for Windows to include all the software that the end user needed?
Yes, your management probably considers IT to be a cost center. As you stated, servers don't maintain or install themselves, but the need for physical support of this equipment has decreased over time. If you've seen your management reduce the number of people working in IT over time instead of keeping them on board to work on more "competitive advantage" activities, they are reducing the impact of a cost center.
You have a point on the new data projects, but when was the last time you had a significant number of new hires working on a data project? If the project is a true competitive advantage, they will throw additional resources on it. If they're having you "make do" with what you have, you're a cost center.
I can't tell if you're joking, but Netflix started as DVD rental by mail service. It was several years before they added a streaming component.
