The second most important thing is to get other "developers" (a very broad definition, since anybody from university students trough application programmer to hobbyists interested in your project could be capable of adding some useful code and look through parts of the source, which they will do in order to sufficiently understand the organization of your project, sorry for this unbelievably long parenthesis) to get interested in solving a problem or adding a function to your project. The motivation factors could be various: maybe they absolutely need an added function in your program to accomplish the task they intend to use it for and the effort needed to write something similar from scratch would be larger then extending the already existing code-base, or maybe your application is already works very well for them but they miss useful additional features, better ease of use or want to eliminate a certain bug.
In order to augment attraction of potential developers you have to offer improved accessibility to your project (nicely formatted and documented source code, a doxygen-like online source tree with additional comments, an up-to-date FAQ and maybe even a short "manual" which concisely explains the manner in which you've laid out your project.
Once somebody has implemented his own creation into your project, you've got a bite. Now you have to make it as convenient as possible for him to share his modification (a visible "submit modifications" section of your website, encouragements to submit personal additions on the "contact" section, etc. If he satisfies your current code standard can add his modifications into your next release, contact him with thanks, hints and your own take on the modification and its future.
When the new "co-developer" has the impression of being able to contribute something useful and appreciated to the project, and if he accepts the direction you are heading and the guidelines you provide, the relation can flourish.
Of course, not every contributer will turn out to be a long-lasting co-developer and friend (also, forks happen), but you have to offer optimal conditions if you want to further the probability.
The real problem with the growth hormones is that the fast growth usually makes cows ill if they aren't given an antibiotic agent at the same time to combat the secondary effects of the growth hormone. Therre have been reports of pus-contaminated milk because of diseases related to the growth hormones. Also, the permanent use of antibiotics creates antibiotics-resistant bacteria on the cows, that are just waiting to get a chance to cross over to humans.
Moreover, since these cows are often fed with GM crop that "naturally" produces pesticides which stay inside the plants when they are harvested, the milk and meat from the cows gets contaminated with pesticides.
Now, instead of proposing concrete net neutrality laws like they should, they are spouting some vague pseudo-free shit that tries to immitate the constitution in its wording for marketing effetcs, in order to appease the naive populace.

I would be much more inclined to seek treatment/consultation whenever possible if it costs me something, because otherwise I'll feel as if I'm spending money for nothing.
Another issue is that we divide the world into "rich" and "poor", when the reality is that many are in-between and can chose to get this help when they feel they really need it. To steal an example from earlier in this thread - if my retired dad had a knee problem, and I had the family savings to get him an MRI and chose to do so, I would be very frustrated when I wasn't allowed to do so. It's a limit to my freedom.
Private clinics for the rich can coexist with universal healthcare if you really think it's necessary (you'd run the risk of creating a two-class medical system), and you're be very naive if you think the rich coudn't get the best treatment whenever they want/need it anyway, universal healthcare or not.
In the end, it's a question of an ethic of "fair play" vs an ethic of "personal responsibility" - do we all depend on a Nanny state to make our decisions for us, or do we depend ourselves and take our chances in an unfair world?
Ask any middle-class citizen with serious health problems who can't get any treatment which he prefers. If we follow your DESPICABLE logic, we should have just let the Kathrina-victims fend for themselves (oh wait, we pretty much did, and we even treated them like criminals because they took foodstuff from deserted supermarkets in order to survive).
