Copyright as a concept is flawed in its' current state it has turned essentialy into a domain grab to patent all existing ideas to you can claim credit for them.
peronal views:
No single human being has the right to claim any information to be 100% original, you think with our sociaty and the existing culture, language, science, art, etc... that you would be able to come up with that idea in the first place?
If you were born truly alone into this world, you would be no better than any animal in the wild. what you take away from the masses for your own gains, you did not intend to give back in the first place.
see no evil...? why are people so afraid to live under judgement, every one makes mistakes no one is perfect. best we can do is support each other, not; hay! lets just pretend that never happened ok?
Any information is good if you can interpret it correctly. if only considering the teaching of ideas primary sources are not needed, as long as a idea is transferred efficiently between the masses. The only reason to track down the primary source is to further understand the source's thinking which led to that idea, but then no idea is truly original. personal influence is no longer relevant when it is now easier to ask for the opinion of the masses. Thus by raising the base standard of the understanding of the masses the accuracy of the information will improve as they 'filter' it.
In short: HELL NO!
As the dude said the issue is not about net neutrality at all. It's about people not understanding whats important in the evolution of a such a system, the whole of the Internet must not fragment if it to grow as one, but at the same time if it is to grow at all, it needs crazy ppl doing crazy things that may isolate them more from the rest of the net. The point is to make it easier for the rest of the ppl to find these unknown few, other wise growth will be slow due to self imposed fragmentation. Think of it as mutation in a collections of cells, the most important type of mutation in this case is one which changes how the cells interact, however since we don't know what each cell is gonna do, we don't know the result of the mutation. we can only try it and hope for the best. but on the scale of the Internet this must happen naturally. and must not be suddenly forced on every single element of the system. Since in the case it is a 'bad' mutation the system cannot evolve to get rid of it, since no since cell has the original form any more, thus there is nothing to compare it to, to know if it is better or worse.
soo basicly they are trying to make a MMORPG with no cash. great...
there is realy no need for linked 3d maps, since the it would be much less efficent then the current system in tranfering information. if it is to be implimented the map coding/graphics must be procedurel form to achive the enough data compression for the transfer to be more efficent then the current system. allowing the same graphics to be adapted to any system with extremely high compression. but no real advantg here other then it looks pretty, ie entertainment; back to the MMORPG. until some one demos some real advantage of such a world it's not gona happen since the work involved is way 2 much.
the evolution of such a.net so to speak must but user based, thus will only come about when procedual graphics become very popular indeed - ie no time soon;)
The idea of copyright is already becoming obsolete, most of your ideas are not original but are mostly based on some thing yo have already observed. you can not say just because you got there first you own this idea, do you really think you came up with that idea all on your own, with out the rest of humanity? the only reason for copy right to still exist is to place materialistic value on ideas and thought. by making linking illegal then yeah as said b4 you just basically said you cannot access any existing information in the system because we don't like to share; which is just plain stupid. the corporations are failing to realise the old system of controlled distribution and monopolization cant no long be enforced when it comes to information based content.
the incentive is simple : good stuctured information, it is the same reason we visit google, wiki, and slashdot. the trick is how to make a system by which the users will help create and organise the information. I am sure that the processing power of 50,000 people is not that shabby. the only problem is realy the validity of the information, but then that is only a small problem since truth to us is relative any way.
I think most people are missing the point, i have spent half of my life in china and half of my life in the UK and i can say for sure, nation wide internet access in china can only be a gd thing. why? The main problem in china is that there is a huge divide in income, most of the lower classes have limited education due to the large divide, this has changed. information is now essentialy free in china to almost every one, call it piracy if you like but piracy of education can only be a good thing.
Even some of the most remote towns in the hills and valles have a internet cafe, more importanly the whole of the next generation will be exposed to almost every bit in the internet. So what if only 99.9 of the internet will ne avabile in china it make no frecking diffrence, the sacrifice in so called freedom is minimal compared to the good effects will it bring to the nation as a whole.
The effect of putting a high price on information (copyright, education), and indeed physical goods has only the effect of removing it's access from the less fortune (poor ppl). This creates a desire for people to gain more represental welth individualy. since it can be assumed if every one is worked equaly hard one man's gain is one man's loss. This creates a greater divide in both distribution of physical goods and information as a whole if one is unconnected, and not just a lack of welth... but also a lack of knowlage is created. where all the bottom level agents are simply drones. but since there must be a large number of workers the majority will always be ill informed thinking they are still free, when they are infact bounded by time and welth instead of censureship.
Thus freedom is nothing when there is greed. because in a free arena greed will dominate if not regulated. thus is freedom is that state still free?
every country runs differently, for china to enforce control of it's media in any other way will be almost impractical and expensive, simply due to the mass of it. to think of it in another way china's media more symbotic with its political system, each allowing the other to thrive under's it's own terms, and protecting each other activly.
The internet is not yeht truely free, since the information contained within is too disorganised, and not found easily. the difference is bascily in the links in the information, it's like the difference in structure between a every large notice board and a wiki.
The protocal must change or at least sites which contain large amounts of information must change. information access must become more of a two way process, allowing for more user end control and promotion of information. the information should quickly became self organising with access, and adaptive due to the userend interaction.
ths situation in china today is that we still have very large number of people willing to work for very low profit margines, this provide most of the economic backbone of china it is these efficent workers thats realy sluging it. In the case of praicyn, tis due to the shear number of people whilling to try and pirate DVD, it is almost impossible to enforce since it's essentaly a bottom up effect. much akin to the file sharing that is currently going on on the internet, there is no legit long term distributors or distupution network. It's all done localy becasue it can be done, this is also one of the reasons why legal operations find it soo hard to compete, because it needs to manualy distrubute the content which is probably produced more expensive as well with no ensurance on sells, compared to the pirates who only need 2 have a computer, half decent printer and a internet connection. The two major diffrence realy is that instead of lets say, sony making money, some ripper in china is. The second problem as mentioned b4 is that the artist is the one who realy misses out on the cash benifits of this kinda of system. But it does mean however the artest is more likely to be famous becasue more ppl have seen his work, thus increasing the demand for his work. ie: he gets loaded any way since now every one wants a piece. In the long term however such as systeme degrades the quaility of work produced by local chinese studios since they get very little in terms of direct fincal feedback.
This is not a great problem in china at the moment because a most of the pirate DVDs are Hollywood films and old short TV series, which have already lost their value or can be dl for free any way. The only netigive feedback one gets for buying a pirate DVD is that it's bad quilty but watchable.

1.what would you put on the price of truth?
2.now what price would you put on the power to influence this so called truth?
if 1 > 2 for most ppl then wiki will survive as it is.
emergent AI in our life time, if they can be bothered to create a interface.
