  5. the GIMP on Alternatives To Adobe's Creative Suite? · · Score: 0

The Gimp is one of the best image manipulators out there. It has drawbacks of not having the user-base of Photo$hop, but it is highly adjustable and modifiable to fit most needs. Plus it's free, and open-sourced.

  6. Channel One on Russian Journalists Quit Over Censorship · · Score: 1

Channel One, the state television station that documents Mr Putin's every move...

We have one of those here in the states, it's also called "Channel One"; only this time they track all of the president's moves and broadcasts them to schools across the country.

Well, that not entirely true, they also have constant advertisements for various branches of the US military.

The conventional theory is that climate changes on Mars can be explained primarily by small alterations in the planet's orbit and tilt, not by changes in the sun.

Let's suppose that the orbit alteration is not the case. Wouldn't it still make sense to prepare for the worst? Why not stop CO2 emissions, we're better off slowing CO2 output and being wrong about global warming than we are heating up the planet with CO2 and being wrong about not having a human global climate impact.

Oh, Ok, thanks for the update. I thought that ex post facto would have implied powers, but I couldn't find a similar supreme court case. And you're right, Microsoft isn't the government. Sorry about that. On another note, would "free-market" (say another company or orginization) prevent Microsoft's implementation of such tools and doom it to failure? Once again, sorry for posting off-topic, I hate to be a "flamer" and/or "troll" and I am fairly new to /. .

  10. This breaks two parts of the US Constitution on Microsoft Seeking to Patent Automatic Censorship · · Score: 0, Offtopic
Hate to burst Congress's bubble, but I was looking through the constitution , and apparently Article I Section 9 Title 3 says:
No bill of attainder or ex post facto law shall be passeed
Meaning that even if congress wanted to, Congress can't make a law blocking somthing that's "going to happen" or already has happened.

Ironically, in the library, you'd also have the cabability to "steal" all sorts of "shared" copyrighted material (books).
