I believe you must look at the context of the amendment with the other amendments. Why would the writers give all of the other rights to the people, except for one? The second amendment was intended to give the right to bear arms to the people. The reason for the bill of rights was to protect the people from an overstepping government, not to protect the government from the people.
By saying this, you remove the very principles of the constitution. The pursuit of life, liberty, and property. With any form of redistribution, you are removing the concept of ownership, since you argue that someones assets can be taken away and given to someone else.
I think the way to help those that are in need, is to put more weight in local governments to help build a sense of community. This will help people to help others by choice rather than force. I work hard for what I earn and I like the things I own. I also help out people who need help.
Retail price for Windows XP Professional is $299, The same version in Vista (Windows Vista Business) is $299. How is this a higher cost base? I am not saying a free OS doesn't help save money, but don't lie about how Vista is more expensive than XP.
Except where noted otherwise, the List Price displayed for products on our website represents the full retail price listed on the product itself, suggested by the manufacturer or supplier, or estimated in accordance with standard industry practice; or the estimated retail value for a comparably featured item offered elsewhere. The List Price is a comparative price estimate and may or may not represent the prevailing price in every area on any particular day. For certain items that are offered as a set, the List Price may represent "open-stock" prices, which means the aggregate of the manufacturer's estimated or suggested retail price for each of the items included in the set. Where an item is offered for sale by one of our merchants, the List Price may be provided by the merchant.
With respect to items sold by Amazon.com, we cannot confirm the price of an item until you order; however, we do NOT charge your credit card until after your order has entered the shipping process. Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items in our catalog may be mispriced. If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.
Please note that this policy applies only to products sold and shipped by Amazon.com. Your purchases from third-party sellers using Amazon.com Payments are charged at the time you place your order, and third-party sellers may follow different policies in the event of a mispriced item.
They should only contact based on a price that is higher (which it is) and provide instructions prior to shipping (which it did not). Seems that after shipping, Amazon cannot cancel or ammend the order since the terms only apply to itmes before they are shipped.
Actually the FairTax is the only tax reform suggested in America to completely remove the tax burden from the poor. This is because in the implementation, everyone gets a prebate of the amount of taxes they pay on the basic necessities of life. Since poor people seem to only spend their money on the basic needs, they get a check in the mail for the amount of taxes they spend. It also allows them to keep all of the money in their paycheck (minus the state taxes taken out). Since this is a tax on wealth and not income it is completely progressive. Think about it, what is the ratio of money spent by a person with $1,000,000 to someone with $15,000. Remember that the tax on basic needs are given to every household.
Also, people with wealth have EARNED it, it is theirs. Why should we think that money should be redistributed to someone else?
"...without considering one thought to the greater good of the people..."
This might be the case, except he is giving away most of his money to charity.
If all of the Windows based customers come to Linux, the product will have changed so much that it wouldn't be what the "current" users want to use. Just like the Mac, Linux is for a niche market of users. Why is it that we want it to change to be the most popular product. Isn't that why Microsoft is bashed?

I could be wrong, but I believe that you can request to get a 64bit disk.

What did one *nix user say to a MS user?
That #3 combo comes to $5.99.
