Yeah people who give it away for free are more like modern day Robin Hoods, stealing from the rich and giving to the nerdy. Although I wonder if any of these would be Robin Hoods have a Maid Marion as well.
Sierra definitly knew how to frustrate me. I remember this happening to me in King's Quest VIII. I got really far in the game, had put loads of time into and had actually figured everything out on my own, only to find out I dropped an item I needed without knowing it. There was no indication that I would have needed that item later. It made me so furious and I just couldn't muster up the energy to restart and I never got to see how the game ended.
I never beat KOTOR for a similar reason. I didn't get a force power that made the end boss less than impossible to beat. Maybe I'm just a quiter.
A friend of mine just started working at the USPTO and quickly discovered the biggest problem with todays patent system. Employee's get raises based on quantity alone. So when review time comes up the supervisors look only at how many patents you have approved and quality is not a factor that is considered. They are apparently working on revising the system so that quality is, at the very least, given some consideration, but until this gets fixed it's going to be hard to change much.
Let it be known that I am the Alex Kilfoyle, Washington Electrical Engineer, interviewed in this article. I hope this will vault my budding career of random guy that listens to a lot of music. Newspapers everywhere will call me for their throw away quotes in music articles. I will be signing autographs tommorow at 5.
