Great. Not only are they torturing these creatures in order to do their evil bidding. But now people are going to go around slaughtering pigeons to prevent being spied on.
How about we put chips in the heads of those so-called scientist to control their movement against their will, and see how they like it. They'd probably change their minds about this being such a great idea. Oh wait, they can't change their minds because we've taken away their free will by putting a damn chip in their brain!
Back in ye olden times when they captured a known pirate, they'd hang 'em as an example for all. So why don't we just hunt down the members of the MPAA and make 'em an example for all to see eh? That'd stop their piracy for sure.
I mean hey, if America can invade random countries for economic interest alone, heartlessly slaughtering thousands of innocent civilians, why can't the rest of us, y'know?
Wasn't this the whole point of the v-chip back in the 90s? Instead of regulating the content, just rate the content, and let the viewers decide what's appropriate for them.
Maybe I'm forgetting something. But I thought that was supposed to clear up this whole situation, so why are we still having this debate.
It really doesn't make sense to me. Cable/Satelite TV is a private service I purchase from a private company. It's an agreement between myself and them. So unless there is some illegal act going on, how does the government have the power to control what content I receive from them? In my mind it's just like the internet. But soon the "moral police" will be regulating that too I'm sure.
I can view the site perfectly fine in Safari, all I have to do is change the user-agent to MSIE6 under the debug menu. Reload and it doesn't fuss.
The only problem I see with this browser lock-out is that it doesn't actually tell you WHY they're locking you out. If it explained that the content they sell only works on WMP10 because it's tied to the DRM in it, so there's no point viewing the site 'cuz you can't view the content on a mac anyway, then there wouldn't be such a fuss.
They should still provide a click-through though so users can see what they're not missing out on.
Really, so what? It's going to be a pain for YouTube to track down all the offending posts. And I really prefer watching the daily show without commercial interruption. But we somehow managed to get through life before youtube, and even before the internet. We have VCRs and now TiVo, etc. We can already watch this content whenever we want. There are more important things in life anyway.
I used to use tv.yahoo.com to see if there's anything good on TV to watch at the moment. But they screwed that up by switching from a sane HTML table format to a flash-based site and I haven't been able to find a decent replacement. So, on those rare occasions when I want to watch TV, I look at the printed tv guide that comes with the newspaper. Not that hard really, takes the same amount of time as waiting for a website to load.
The more "pirated" content these big corporations get pulled from the mainstream view, the more the mainstream will look to other sources of entertainment. Indie artists and content creators will benefit. Sounds good to me!
If you're just too squeamish for the movie then go watch something else. Problem solved.
If you find the content "offensive" then why would you pay for a sanitized version? Ultimately that money goes to the original creator and obviously you disagree with their morals or you wouldn't be offended by their content.
The whole thing sounds to me like a thinly veiled excuse to pirate movies and sell them below market value.
Consumers always want to pay less. Companies always want to make more money. It's not like there's some vast conspiracy.
Who cares how much it costs them to MAKE the iPod, if the actual value of the device for the consumer is not equal to the price point then people won't buy it. The iPod seams to have crushed all the other music players, so obviously it's at a good price point for most people.
Personally I think the iPods are over priced, so I won't get one. Pretty simple.
CDs won't play in Tape players, tapes won't play in record players, and oh-my-god DRM music can't be played on devices that don't read the DRM format.
Don't like DRM? Don't buy it. No one is forcing you to downgrade from CD or Vinyl to digitally compressed files that can be easily destroyed by an accidental press of the delete key on your keyboard.
So what this is telling us that Apple aren't using robots for all of their production? This is 2006, human workers are sooo 20th century! Heellloooo!!!
And in other news, Republicans propose an amendment to the constitution making it illegal to let anyone under the age of 18 outside of the house, ever.
It may seam quite harsh, but one senator was quoted as saying "it's quite tame compared to the original proposal to automatically incarcerate all males who have reached the age of puberty. God knows they're all violent pedophiles in the making, better to lock them up before they harm any children." When asked if he had any children of his own the senator replied "Of course not, kids these days are just too unruly! Why would I want to deal with trying to raise one!"
So Google bitches that IE will have MS's own search engine as the default, though the user can easily change it.
Well here on MacOS X, Safari has Google as the one and only search engine in the search box. You can only change it through 3rd party hacks, and you can't hide the stupid thing.
So what's google bitching about really, oh yes, that they don't have a lock-in market.
I guess someone (*cough* Microsoft *cough*) got to them before the needs of the customer could. But we knew this was going to happen didn't we.

"Science" gets less ethical every day.
These kind of people are just desperately repressed and screaming to get laid. Someone send them a few hookers so they can loosen up already!
If you base your security model singularly around patents instead of proper implementation, then there is something wrong with your security model.
Your opinion is biased. Digg down.

You can only fight fire with fire.

Hi, I'm a Mac
And I'm a PC
Woa, what happened to you PC?!
Oh, I just burned down a 200 year old house, no big deal. Happens all the time.

And Linux-heads wonder why Linux will never be a main-stream OS. They're quite silly!
