I was in Jackson, Mississippi and I stopped in at a mall to get something to eat. In the parking lot was a cop, a real police officer - not security, driving around in an EV that was like a cross between a Smart Car and a golf cart. I thought about running over and flipping him on his side but I realized how bad a choice that was and did not do it. I still kind of regret not having taken the chance. I was in my RV so I probably could not have outrun the cops with that but I certainly could have outrun that particular cop.

I have driven a friend's and it was quite fun but the handling characteristics are a little off. I was a professional driver, including security training. I can do what is known as a "J-turn" in a bus full of prisoners or drive a sedan like a professional stunt driver. (My MOS was 3505 which put me in the motor pool but driving an HMMWV was not all that we did in there.) My friend told me to drive it like I stole it, he actually came all the way up from Boston with it - it took him quite a while and some planning, and I did - in fact I started off with said J-turn.

It handles like a mid-engined car but it felt like the center of gravity was a bit lower than most. It took a minute to get used to it but I do agree - it is nice that it handles as well as it does and even more surprising is the weight. It handles very well for its weight. I am a fan of large sport sedans and this really seems to suit me.

But, and this is a big but, have you seen the i8? The Tesla's nice and all but, really... The i8 is absurdly sexy. It is so sexy that I may do vile things to it in the middle of the night. I could be passionate with it though our love could never be true as it could not love me in return and, well, I could not fuck it. Well, I suppose I could probably find a way but I am only a little bit of a freak. It is absolutely beautifully sexy.

You only need a birth certificate and some other form of ID to get a social security card and you can mail to get your birth certificate anywhere that I know of - contact the Office of Records (or some other ominous named office).

    Requirements:

My daughter's apartment was broken into and her ID was all stolen along with her birth certificate - the true copy and the only copy. It took a bit but we were able to replace it all. I seem to recall a path for those who do not have a photo ID as well. I think she had to go to the State, get an attested copy of some paper that indicated she needed her social security card, and was then able to submit that. Much of it was done with the assistance of a local attorney that my lawyer knew and hired for her. I can call her and ask if need be though it probably is not that important.

The old rule used to be that there are so many people that die as children that you just go get a certificate of live birth for someone near your name. From there you get a SSN (one may have been issued, just get the card). Then you can get a photo ID or a license in most states. Then a passport...

I have not spent must time with that sort of person in a while so I do not know if they are still doing it. I may have had a license and been old enough to drink long before I was of legal age but that would have been a long long time ago, a lifetime away, if it, you know, happened.

I not only do not need help, I find such help offensive. There is no just reason for it - none. I was there during the heady days of the fight for equality. None of us, not one, wanted things like affirmative action. That came after the uproar when the movement was co-opted (some of whom are still in 'power' within the community and have tainted it forever) by people who were not interested in equality. I see the same thing happening to the feminist movement. They are no longer about equality. Once a group has advocated and has what it asked for there is no reason for it to exist. I suspect that this may have something to do with it.
