As someone who has worked in the printing industry my entire life, I find it insane that it is still illegal to farm hemp. It grows quickly and can produce multiple yields per year. It produces more paper per acre than trees and is a more sustainable resource. It is also a good alternative to the cotton that is used in many specialty papers. Not to mention all of the other uses it has.
The biggest problem with Ethanol in/as a fuel is the fact that it produces and increased amount of H2O in the exhaust that causes damage to the pistons, cylinders, and exhaust system. The only way to avoid that damage is to have the insides of everything ceramic coated which is an expensive process for most engines.

They already get government subsidies. It's called the Universal Service Fund. We all contribute to it when we pay our phone bills.
I was using tools/computers very similar, if not more advanced during this same time period.
