Now that second biggest (population-wise) country joined the government-backed thievery, what do you expect from farma/technological and other companies? How they suppose to recuperate their investments? Why burn at work if well-organized group of corrupt officials can steal your invention - and enjoy the fame of guardians of their nations? It is interesting to note, that countries encountering backlash over the corruption are first to go for this tricks.
Purely populist move - instead of fighting hanger, water shortage, corruption - lets steal. Oh, the noble cause...
Like studying cold water survival or high altitude impact in prison camps - that was the noble cause too, wasn't it? It did save some lives, you know.
How about creating environment where 1.2 billion people can produce few hundred scientists that can develop good drugs? Or finding a workable way to distribute wealth accumulated by few (oh, I forgot, India is not a capitalist country, there are no people there loaded with gold http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes_list_of_Indian_billionaires) to pay for the job others' did?
This is a sure way to encourage reckless societies.
The only reason St. Steve moved production overseas is because slavery was abolished in the US. Not that others much better - but this company suppose to be a symbol of innovation and progress. The example with 8000 people being rushed to the assembly line to work 12 hours is just disgusting. I guess if Apple executives find it unreasonable to work on unemployment porblem in a country which made Apple possible - they should move to place they do care about (iPhone with the golden star instead of a rotten apple on the back - I would like to see this one).
Or, rather Apple is not trying to build the system which will require less streneous work condition. All this audit supply garbage is just a legal protection - face it, it is just another (and being successful - most errogant) ruthless corporation.
You can manage to make 10 m/g on a hybrid car, if you wish to. I have a Prius. In flat city traffic (Florida) it was consistently making 45 m/g (my previous manual transmission car would make 23-24). I am not talking dashboard numbers - I did cehck it few times by counting miles and checking gas station meters. Once in a hilly city winter time (tough ones - SF, Seattle) - it drops to 33-35. Still pretty good - I have children and dogs, so don't compare it to 2 seat + bench cars - I know they can sip even less, but I think Toyota and others came up with the descent technology which really makes some difference, so it is up to us to use it smart. Author's claims are complere BS, and I think he jsut wnated to get some attention. One can use Internet to learn, or spread a revolt, or watch pRon, or play WoW - it is all up to user. Would I like tax on gas? I guess yes, if I knew all money goes to make our life cleaner, and not to fund another war.
Paper - means trees, or if recycled paper is used, tracks to deliver, and rest that you can imagine. Pens - chemicals. And then to save notes - you'll scan or retype it?
Go to your local chess club - who would you find there? Yep, asians and some white folks are 99%. Go to your local youth orchestra - ok, now you talking "only" 90% (no, not school bands, sorry). Spelling bee? Mathcount?
Chess set will cost you $20. In most orchestras you'll get support if family is really poor. It all starts with parents.
Why anyone would expect that free market (or even regulated one) will have a need for the education of his/her choice?? It's like statement form one of the occupants - "I have a degree and fluently speak French and Mandarin - why there is no work for me?" Hey, there are >200 million native speakers of French and >1 billion of Mandarian, big part of them speak English. YES - there is no any level job for people who partied and traveled for their excitement for 4 years. Even if you work hard on your topic of choice - why it should be an economical reason for the job?? But, of course - one can blame government. Or occupy something.
So, English merchants-sailors invent port, madeira, sherry, made them first'class drinks and now their descendants bow to bunch of Brussels bureaucrats? Shame on Aussie's government.
Just waiting for Russians to nuke everyone trying to put Vodka on their bottles (Poles, you are first in line!:)
And for those who want to drink exactly what they read - it is much more sh*tty port, sherry, chablis, and, lately, cognac originated in "designated" places then in Australia. Those "protecting" are degenerated descendants of once great producers that trying to save money streams after loosing their skills. Moreover - it is already questionable whether they make the wines corresponding to their names. With temperature ever rising you cant get grapes not the same condition as it was 100/200/300 years ago when name got established. Who knows, in 20 years welsh or norvegian Cab/Merlo can be better for good claret that tiny grapes from the Garonne desert
I like the idea on noport, nochablis, nof!@#gparmigiano. BTW - AUPorto would work even better:) Winemakers should care people buying their wine, not the name. No one would consider chianti to be a good wine only because it has that word on the bottle, Italians let the name to go down the drain with no other nation interference.
Great logic follow it and BP should never tell/show us oil leak - who is qualified to review deep water drilling but those who drill? why "experts" should judge whether we should torture people? let's Securitate Shtazi and CIA peer review their practice.
It is up to inventor to decide whether he wants to leave door open to copycats. It is up to patent office AND professionals in the field to determine whether this or that idea should be patented. Creating color/font combination which appeals to customer is huge investment - should anyone to be able to reuse it for his good only becase its painted with different type of paint? RSA was patented and I see no problems in three individuals (actually, research/educational instituation) benefiting from it. It is how they can make money. Developing of this technology was huge effort and I dont see reason inventor of flytrap or new drug should have his work covered and software scientist/engineer should not.
I have no problems with OSS movement (and use its products when find it handy) - but I hate people trying to impose their ideology on others.
RIP for independent developers. Readers of this site are moslty overceffeinated IT monkeys. Without IP protection what are the chances for the small team or an individual to create their own company? Once invention (and many software enginners did created amazing inventions) can be freely copied by anyone (including Misrosoft, IBM or Baidu, or sorry, Baidu is from country where you can copy anything) - goodbye independent development. There is no reward for sleepless nigths (unless you are writing viruses and getting paid by criminals or NSA). Oh, yeah, you can get bonus - 1/100 of your boss if he's in good mood. Everyone coding will become slave of those holding money. Anyone can explain me WHY protecting new can opener is OK and new algorythm is not? Both require some knowledge and (to be desired by others) need to be better then existing ones - which means sofistincation and hard work of the creator.
Socialists and likes - please see great "success" of late USSR and China until both got opened for foreign innovations. Both countries where stack with outdated technologies and where spending hughe money to COPY what West (in IT it meant - US, whether Old World likes it or not) had created. And all this despite huge intellectuall potential! The fact that you have stupid patents does not mean you do not want to protect those who have creative mind. Bad judge decisions does not mean you need to rely on stoning pepole. Economical recession does not mean you need thos leave in 1984.
This punk just ruined one of the greate computer companies with OOOOOOOOpen Soooource "strategy". and now he will try to make living by throwing dirt around.
You can leave without currency when its -30 but tyr to do it without gaz (if this is the only meanof heating your home:)
I guess for this sum (~$8000 per apartment and I guess there are sum government support) which make it 800 million they would better insulate homes and get all this electricity/oil/gaz saved on a first place.
It is obvious that Russians are using gaz as a political instrument, so trying to get into any project that increases German dependency on natural gaz is stupid.
Looks like Germans didnt have enough scare last winter when Russians flexed their pipes. Now they want to put 100.000 people in a mercy of their old friends. Good timing since natural gaz price is so low (now).
93% efficiency from an old engine? Sounds like a pipe dream.
There are plenty of great initiatives in Europe regarding energy efficiency but this one sounds like total crap (or it is one of those hidden Buy German initiatives - no one buying cars anymore, so at least some folks will keep their jobs in engine plants).
Just wondering what are the numbers for the companies wich are planning to deploy MacOS, Debian/RedHat/Mandrake/Novell NetWare/Sysem V.
Isn't it enough beating the bushes? it just mean 4 out of 10 companies in economy close to 1929 paralysis ARE planning to deploy new OS.
Jeez, just wondering wether macOS delployment would ever be in 1 out of 1000 companies...
AW, yeah.
It was one of the point point of the response. I do not consider person with the apple in his hand (or mouse) an ignoramuse. I just hate people screaming "freeeee" and not being able to see that its not even as in "beer" anymore but rather like in "shit" (hm, who cares about spelliGN anymmore).
Become a poisonous drug. Need to add cobra or rattlesnake to their logo.

Did you actually read the KM books (Kapital, for example) or you just retweeting excerpts?

yeah, but he conducted criminal activities (at least as local laws saw it)
