Throttle by wire IMO, is fucking with the KISS rule.

To propose that somehow mechanical cables are safer because they are simpler is severely flawed.
Have you every seen how easy it is to get a mechanical throttle to get stuck? Also in a wreck the cable the throttle can become pinched, stuck at full throttle not fun. Look at the back of street/strip drag car they have emergency kill switch on the back bumper for this reason, along with wanting to kill the fuel pump.
A mechanical throttle lacks any safety controls. A simple cable is in fact simple, but it is a stupid cable.
Twice I have seen a mechanical fail.
90s Camaro SS , guy had dropped about 10k in the motor only to have the throttle get stuck, redline, broken valves.
My Saturn has become stuck more than once when it is cold, never caused an accident.

Just because you drive car, bought a car, doesn't give you divine insight on how a car works, and somehow your experience brings insight to the conversation.Spend a little time working on/ modifying a car and you will quickly discover; mechanical cables suck ass to put in and are more prone to failure!

In the end it was all just a fairytale.

From working on cars , drag racing and that I work on autonomous car that needs an remote emergency stop. I find that the drivers couldn't stop the vehicle as a problem with the driver. Sorry for there loses but they should have payed attention in drivers education. I remember the old videos from the 70/80s where they went over if your throttle gets stuck what you should do. IMPO was more likely on older cars with a manual throttle cable would be come stuck or go out of control. The throttle in my Saturn has become stuck due to moisture in the throttle cable, along with cold temperatures; one time on the highway , one time coming out of the subdivision and I didn't go flying off a cliff.

Fun facts for people that forgot drivers education.
    1) A fully depressed brake will stop the car even if the throttle is stuck.Unless your brakes fail also , or you have 500 lbs of torque, but I don't see Prius putting up those numbers.
    2) Kill the ignition. No ignition the engine stops quick. In fact your engine stops quicker if there is more fuel in the engine. In older cars with a carburetor when the car would "diesel" continue to run after the ignition is cut, flooring the gas instantly kills the engine.
    3) Put it in neutral. Nothing to explain there.

The pick clearly is an alligator , you can tell by the nose, it is wide not narrow. "This captured crocodile has magnets taped to its head before relocation to another site." I think not. Also generally I think this would a problem with alligators. Considering the croc population in florida is around 1200 (wiki), but estimates for alligator populations in the US are estimated to be 1 million( http://www.npca.org/marine_and_coastal/marine_wildlife/alligator.html) . And if you look into the alligator, the routinely have problems with alligators because "inhabits wetlands that frequently overlap with human-populated areas" (wiki). I don't know this could be applied to both species, but I don't think there is as much of a croc problem as alligator problem.

Just looking at this http://www.nuclearfiles.org/menu/key-issues/nuclea r-weapons/issues/accidents/20-mishaps-maybe-caused -nuclear-war.htm of past incidents this seems very minor. I know we broke treaty on accident, but that is all. Oh yeah we need to keep the nukes around so when the doomsday asteroid comes we can blow it up into a million little pieces.

Speaking from someone that was infantry over in Iraq. This would be very helpful , not for just snipers but anyone that might be shooting at you. Just for clarification , sorry most likely if it is sniper fire you are not going to call in an air strike. You mortar team would take care of it. They can usually set up in less than minute . If they are really close , the mortar team can hit them back within seconds. Speaking from experience , (was an RTO) , it takes time for an air strike, by that time the sniper or who ever has ran away. Most of them wouldn't ever stick around, they would take there pop shot and run like hell. If they stayed they knew mostly likely they would get their asses handed to them.

Yes I admit the ati drivers suck sometimes under linux. The latest drivers from ati just don't work with my 9600 under linux, they do sorta , but the 8.28 work like a charm. I really think the issue on my machine isn't the drivers at all, the fps are very close, but I think it is the os. It seems that the windows process scheduler(Ie wow isn't getting priority for some reason) is doing something funny or it is related to the network stack(I think it is windows network stack sucks, that is why some nics bypass it,ie killer nic ). Windows bounces around with the fps highs in the 40-60 , lows in the 3-6 range, linux just doesn't do that, it is very annoying in pvp when you fps drops to 3-4 fps. I currently deleted the game from all my machines it is way too addicting , I will come back to it when I have more free time. I need to find the screen shots but I was running the deadmines instance under linux with an average fps of 50(highs in the 70s).
