It seems to me that usually people tend to thing that the fon system if about connecting people for free to the internet. It's only a small part of the system.
99% of the foneras users will pay to access the internet and about 30% of the money will be given to the guy sharing his bandwith.
So all of this is more about reselling your bandwidth than realy "sharing" it.
3. No Exchange support, tethering, desktop sync, video or Skype. Some or all of these would be nice at launch but I assume they will be added fairly quickly by others though given it is an open-source platform.
this part is ridiculous. Skype & exchange support requires agreement from Skyppy & MS , so even if it's a Nice to have for professionnal people, it should be priority 0 on android devs Roadmap.
Don't we need a Good video SIp & Jaber Jingle Client before ?
As I read the title for an opensource Tablet, I was quite disgusted to read that they would include skype...
Don't mess up skype with standards & Opensource...
please/...
Microsofrt LCS is a SIP server that uses UDP or TLS and can be MSN/Yahoo/aim proxy , So I might means that Yahoo use SIP as it was said, but no way to connect to yahoo using a SIP TCP client such as Minisip

You're right but it's a good start. P2P vidéo is coming which would stop the need for a business model.
Check it out. http://theorasea.org/ Right now they don't host video.
