Cost of living varies wildly in the US, in proportion with population density. I fucking dare you to try living on 12k in a city. (which would largely remove your ability to farm, due to land / space constraints.) without going into the debt trap, that is.
Wow, this was an appropriate use of the "-1 Troll" moderation option.
That was very well done. It may have been too subtle for this crowd.
Oh man, that was great. Not at all too subtle. I tip my hat to your sir (or maam) and only wish that I had mod points to give you. Thank you guys so much. I'm really just trying to get my footing here at slashdot.
Before, when Netflix streamed a movie for 24h to someone, all they had to do was put a DVD of the movie under lock for 24h to be in the clear vs the copyright law. Now that the duration is unlimited, they actually have to purchase and destroy a physical disc each time they stream a movie to you. Every time you stream a movie, Netflix kills a DVD.
The 1700's called, they want to know if we have Prince Albert in a can.
Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, 1819 to 1861?
Primitive man called, they want their inability to count back.
Even if the item is on sale for dirt cheap, it still costs money to buy. I remember a story one of my professors told me. His wife comes back from shopping with a new $400 coat. When he asks why she spent so much money, she says, it was on sale, I saved $200. He said great. Go buy 4 more so we can pay the rent. The moral of the story is, buying something simply because it's on sale doesn't save you anything. It just costs you money.
Did your professor mention how comfortable the couch was?
Wait, now it's _morally_ irresponsible? Jesus man I just inflated a birthday balloon, I didn't kill the last penguin. Actually, killing the last penguin probably isn't as immoral as killing the second-to-last one.
It's better to have your lack of security demonstrated to you by a relatively benign agent before a truly malevolent one.
Is this not the rationale for penetration testing?

Which sort is this 14 year old who derailed 4 trains and injured people again?
I'm not saying his punishment should be harsh but he *did* do wrong here and knew or should have known that he was doing wrong.
I always read the "Print Scrn Sys Rq" button as single function with a caviat. Like the button says "Print Screen (System [that is to say a printer] Required)". You learn something new every day.
even better, you could switch between several vantage points, much like just about every car racing video game i've seen in the last 10 years. just choose whether you want bird's eye view, medium view, in the driver's seat, on the hood of the car,, etc... Try getting used to these things while walking downtown and that's just where you'll be seeing yourself.
FYI: not everyone is a candidate for laser eye surgery. Anyone with vision that is still changing with time, or with extremely poor vision, is not a candidate for the treatment. (Yes, paradoxically the people who most need corrective surgery are not candidates.) For certain people with very bad eyesight and irritable eyes, neither contacts nor surgery are available (my sister is in this class of unfortunate people).
All of that to say that there is a segment of the population who cannot avoid wearing glasses. There are of course many others who prefer glasses over contacts or corrective surgery for non-monetary reasons.
And clearly not marketing to this segment is a marketing disaster on the level of "New Coke".
It's already been pointed out that once solar cells are properly commercialised - and this is rapidly getting closer - the entire United States generation baseload could be provided from panels on public land in Arizona alone. I, for one, welcome our new public-park-destroying overlords.

Please. Think of the DVDs.

Would you accept "In Soviet Russia Bare Bones YOU!"?
You don't "start playing Tetris" at 3 AM. You start "just one quick game of Tetris" at 8 PM.

It worked so well for GM!

"Anything tastes good if you deep fry it." Best post-sig combo. Ever.
Uhhh, you do? (Duh?)
This sucks for low volume people, like me, but deal with it.
Huey Newton? Is that you?
TELNET?!?
