Cost of living varies wildly in the US, in proportion with population density. I fucking dare you to try living on 12k in a city. (which would largely remove your ability to farm, due to land / space constraints.) without going into the debt trap, that is.

Wow, this was an appropriate use of the "-1 Troll" moderation option.

Before, when Netflix streamed a movie for 24h to someone, all they had to do was put a DVD of the movie under lock for 24h to be in the clear vs the copyright law. Now that the duration is unlimited, they actually have to purchase and destroy a physical disc each time they stream a movie to you. Every time you stream a movie, Netflix kills a DVD.

    Please. Think of the DVDs.

Even if the item is on sale for dirt cheap, it still costs money to buy. I remember a story one of my professors told me. His wife comes back from shopping with a new $400 coat. When he asks why she spent so much money, she says, it was on sale, I saved $200. He said great. Go buy 4 more so we can pay the rent. The moral of the story is, buying something simply because it's on sale doesn't save you anything. It just costs you money.

FYI: not everyone is a candidate for laser eye surgery. Anyone with vision that is still changing with time, or with extremely poor vision, is not a candidate for the treatment. (Yes, paradoxically the people who most need corrective surgery are not candidates.) For certain people with very bad eyesight and irritable eyes, neither contacts nor surgery are available (my sister is in this class of unfortunate people).

All of that to say that there is a segment of the population who cannot avoid wearing glasses. There are of course many others who prefer glasses over contacts or corrective surgery for non-monetary reasons.

And clearly not marketing to this segment is a marketing disaster on the level of "New Coke".
