Tineye should be working hard to have Google buy it. (Mostly because when Google has what they have they'll fade quickly into oblivion) Been watching them for a while now.
Alternatively they could sell a batch search program/sell batch searches. Rights holders or people like the mpaa would give them big bags of money to be able to search for anyone who has 'infringing' images up.
Very eloquent indeed. In fact likely the most eloquent post I've read on/.. It reads like a speech. I can feel your voice booming with power. Each line holding the weight of your beliefs. It makes an embarrassment of my arguments. English major or just a romantic individual?
That is actually an interesting point. Before I didn't think the DNS could be used for evil based on the idea that only informed nerds would ever use it. But, if it were used in android/chrome it COULD be used for evil more easily. Doesn't really make Google guilty just because something could be misused but still, something to watch for.
I imagine getting a job in palliative care wouldn't be too tough:P
Joking aside, jobs are made by people. More people means more jobs are needed. But these people also create jobs... seeing as how they have to live in a home, eat food and... enjoy themselves. More people are rarely a problem for the economy it's self unless the number increases too rapidly.
People that work and don't spend suck jobs out of a group. Dying with a half million dollars is shockingly not that helpful for the economy in general.
Given more than 1 minute to think about it... it would kill net neutrality and end horribly for us all. So instead, fuck all the think of the children scare mongers. Lets start suing parents that let their kids be endangered. Or have the municipality take the kids away citing child endangerment.
I wonder if this would open adults to using their children as bait hoping to get settlements. Like the MJ case... where the father made his kid lie about MJ so that he could get a big wad of cash. (Has been admitted since MJs death). All you'd have to do is have your kid go in a chatroom and pretend to be a 19yr old slut, you could prolly sue 20 people a day...
My cellphone company would already know that, how is this different? Personally I think Google is far more trustworthy than my cellphone company. So it is a pretty minor thing. And I get a feature out of it from Google. If I bought a GPS instead of using Google then they would have my location... So i fail to see the advantage. Unless you think mapping tech isn't worth the risk?
As products improve I think most people will give up private data in exchange for services. So long as you are careful its ok. Honestly unless I were evading the police... for me the whole planet knowing where I am is ok. And since it is opt-in not even opt-out I fail to see the problem. If I need to run from the police or it becomes a problem I'll ditch the cellphone and the GPS device... I could prolly shut them off if I were going to a club and didn't want gf to find out... but honestly if she is paying my GPS company or Google i'm pretty sure i'm already busted.
It seems more and more reasonable to give kids their own version of the internet completely. That way we wont get crazy someone think of the children laws.
I said older (meaning, than me) not old:P Anyways I think age is mostly a state of mind. And they clearly weren't OLD since they were hitting up a rave lol. Don't mind.
Off topic and random. Last week I was on a bus from the US and I was talking to this older couple in their late 40s early 50s. And they were telling me that they went to a rave a few weeks ago in Toronto. It was strange. But then Torontonians would have thought it was cool anyways.
I ask, it is just a valuable trade off for me. I am not sure what evil the can do with my location. It isn't like i'm hard to find anyways. Just because I disagree doesn't mean I haven't thought about it right?
Also, media hates Google, it is an upstart that keeps crushing them like bugs.
Yeah I looked up life span and got those numbers which seemed suspiciously low but trusted them over my own estimates which were a good deal higher.
Anyways, point still stands, life in the dark ages was a lot more dispensable than it is now. Their life spans were significantly lower, maybe half. So my argument doesn't change, I'd edit the numbers if I could.
And the abundance thing is true in some places... In places where we still see hunter gather societies they haven't grown because their food is such a pain in the ass to get it sucks up all their time. And the reason hunter gather groups were LIMITED to sizes of about 50 people was because of scarcity. If food were less scarce larger populations could have been supported. Perhaps there was a good food:human ratio but like starving people in africa prove. Food existing doesn't mean you can get at it.
Err... and you get progressively more 'naturalistic fallacy' and end up on the bible:S
I got work or I'd debate, if another/.er wants to, go right ahead.
Their PDF->HTML thing could really use some work. Many PDFs look totally different.

Also, hilarious image match

The goal is to stay a step ahead of government. It might take them 5~10years to figure that one out.

Also, parent topic is not offtopic.
Pants are just another closed source mechanism. They should be barred, allowing everything to be free for all.
Oh god I just imagined RMS starting a nudist movement and threw up in my mouth a little. So I figured I'd share the vision with all of you.
Well interesting is ok >.> it isn't modded informative atm anyways.
Because any adult that breaks into the kids net would have done so clearly not by accident... so any punishment they get would be fine.
Anyways, it was to put a ridiculous solution forward to combat a ridiculous law.
My point was more to show that the laws are ri-fucking-diculous by giving a solution equally ridiculous.

You've convinced me that both metrics are complete crap and have no way of knowing this. .... I guess that is getting somewhere haha :P

Agreed but it is still a way better metric than top product.
Hell for linux the top grossing product might be some odd server thing that costs thousands to deploy. Does that mean linux users are rich? Fuck no.
Wasn't the point of the study. The perception bit was the interesting part.
Also, if you ever made an accurate IQ test that showed one gender on top. It would never ever see the light of day.

"Even dedicated e-readers ... can’t handle textbook staples like ... videos and Web-linked supplements"
Pretty damn sure you are making an unfair comparison here. Unless textbooks in the author gets all his textbooks from Hogwarts.
Some studies drop people that die before a certain age to give a better estimate of what the populace would look like.

Pretty much all winmo apps are free... none of which are included in your lists...... sooo that doesn't work now does it.
Find stats on amount of money spent on apps PER phone. iphone vs any other OS and it'll be a pretty damn big gap I assure you.

I put it in quotes because I think it is a silly term too. And you jab me for it ... :/
Anyways my point was that this isn't a Google thing, it is a cloud thing. Soo.... we are in agreement?
Bronze age != hunter gathers.
:S
