  1. Asus on Ask Slashdot: Life Beyond the WRT54G Series? · · Score: 1

Installed an Asus Wi-Fi router at an office where they had all sorts of problems. Eight months later and still works like a charm. I'd go for an Asus (never thought I write that sentence, ever.)

  3. A deal with the devil on Cringely Predicts Apple to Ship OS X for Any PC · · Score: 1

Microsoft promised to continue to make Office for Mac for another five years. It's pretty obvious that Apple had to pay back. My wild guess is that they promised not to release a generic version of Mac OS X for another five years.

  5. A better way on Need A Few Post-Its Around The Office? · · Score: 1

A friend of mine had his old Volvo rolled with wallpaper glue and then sprinkled with breakfast cereals. It looked like an infected warthog.

You could always check Apples Tech Note.

  7. Slashdot: news for lawyers, litigation that matter on Ritz Disposable Digital Camera Hacked · · Score: 2, Funny

I read the article and hoped to find some insightful comments regarding hacking hardware and cameras. Instead almost every post is about DMCA and legal ramifications of hacking the camera.

Has Slashdot changed direction without me noticing? Is it now for lawyer wannabes instead of hackers?

  8. Here is a mirror! on TCP/IP over Bongo Drums · · Score: 1

  9. Linux PDAs really needs GPS support on New Linux-based PDA due September · · Score: 4, Interesting

The only killer app I have seen so far on PDAs except the basic PIM stuff is GPS navigation. Is there any navigation software available for linux PDA? And Im not talking about raster map software, but vector based maps.

  10. Re:64-bit Adobe apps on More on the PowerPC 970 · · Score: 1

Well, judging from past experience, Adobe probably will not make to much effort to optimize the code for the 970. Doing benchmarks on a dual G4 machine running Adobe After Effects 5.5 and compairing it to a single processor machine shows an 10-20% increase in speed. If starting a network render on the same machine, the speed increases to about 60-80%
Its really funny reading all the benchmarks of After Effects when comparing a dual G4 to a single processor pc. The pc still kicks the macs ass in speed, but nowhere near the figures After Effects shows. Lightwave 3D is probably a better benchmark program.

  11. Re:Will Font Smoothing be less horrid? on Mac OS X 'Panther': User at the Center · · Score: 1

Well, usually the reason Font Smoothing doesn't look good on the powerbook is that the ColorSync profile is not very accurate. Download a program called "SuperCal" from http://www.versiontracker.com and follow the on-screen instructions to make an reasonably accurate colorprofile. Dont forget to change the settings in "System preferences" to font smoothing for lcd screen.

  12. Why not a list? on IETF Rejects Wiretapping · · Score: 2

Why not put up a list of companies that includes wiretap abilities in their products? When sales starts hurting, they may not be inclined to include this in there products any longer? I would gladly give up some space on one of my web servers for that purpose.
