As long as rev reverses what's it given, its useful. That is the unix philosophy, do one thing that you promise to do well and let the user decide how to use. These days there are use cases every where, with programmers, managers predicting what the user wants to do and deciding how he should do it. And declare a tool to be useless if it doesn't fit into the 'how to do it'
Well according to the summary, other sites took it from google news and after it found its way onto bloomberg the trading application took it. So the trading application didn't take it from beta software. Well atleast not directly
Dial up is sufficient for most things on the internet if you have one vital thing - patience. I was on dial-up till 6 months back, and did everything, from downloading operating systems (freebsd, linux,to quote a few) to p2p file sharing on direct connect (managed a statistic of 60 GB download) and yes you need the right tools, most of the cases wget and bash will do... and though I am on DSL now I still don't pay for bandwidth (its useless for me beyond a certain amount) so I pay only for 128 kbps and instead opt for no caps on the data...
Why do you think a cheap car is being made to solve the traffic problem? The whole purpose is different and it is to bring the simple joy of car ownership that most westerners are used to for generations now to more Indians.. who are used to car ownership as something very special that only the lucky few can think of.. The traffic problem is different and if it is aggravated by this then solution is not to deprive people of the ability to buy and use cars but perhaps to build better network of roads and encourage traffic to decentralize etc..

Just reduce the average American's income to 2% of what it is now. All problems will be solved both local and global .
