there are only morons in the jury if they voted for Apple, it's so clear Apple just took other people's work from the past and patented it as their own.. This really is a big low for the justice system.. I wouldn't be even surprised if a lot of jurymembers are apple fanboys, otherwise the outcome would have been much different..
The problem with security bugs is that it's hard to decide what a securitybug is.. SQL-injection for instance is now a wel know securitybug, but it wasn't when it was first used. Also there is the problem of not being up to date what can cause a securitybug (that's almost a special trade by itself), I personally still frown at the concept of bufferoverflows to start malicious code and still can't grasp how it's done even after more than 25 years of coding, so I would never be able to detect a securitybug like that. Then ofcourse there's the problem of using a framework/external component which might have a securitybug which you as a developer are not aware of. Also what about old software, which might be full of securitybugs but not known bugs at the time of writing.. Securitybugs are a bug problem to classify, to an expert who makes money of finding those bugs, it's a given, but to a day-to-day developer it might not be known, and it just isn't feasible to be up to date on EVERYTHING, because there's a lot more then only securitybugs..
it's not the problem of the ban not working, the problem lies with the people which are still using their mobile devices regardless of the ban.. A lot of accidents are still caused by people not paying attention because they are using their mobile device (or are in a phoneconversation (also when handsfree)).. So if people would actually stop using the devices during driving, it would certainly reduce the ammount of accidents.. Almost every day when I'm on the road I see people not paying attention due to those, and it certainly isn't the first time I was a witness to such stupidity ending in an accident.. People think they can handle using the phone and driving at the same time, but they can't, their just lucky nothing happened when they used the device..
they act like adobe is bad, but knowing well that big companies work with structured development where everything has to be planned. it's almost only 1.5 month AFTER they notified adobe about the problems and they're already bitching at adobe.. It's not like all the reported (security) bugs about chrome are fixed within one month.. So I find it very irresponsible of them to publish the information so soon, to me it more seems them trying to blackball adobe...
But why settle for a substandard standard if another company is proposing a much better standard. Also don't think for a minute that Google is any different than microsoft, they all want their methods used. You could also argue why not to implement the best methods/techniques from both 'standards' to get the best standard.. Google also just tries to push their way onto the browserlandscape, and they're not always the best, but they keep on pushing.. To me as a user i'd ratherhave them really work together instead of 'figthing' each other, the f-ing tech isn't finalized yet, so why not make sure the end result is the best, and that's something that can only happen if they listen to each other instead of fightinh each other..
What this means is that the SOURCE engine runs better now on OpenGL than on DirectX, but if you read the original article correct, you'll see that they know how to get DirectX up to the same speed. Appearently they just didn't use the API's to it's fullest, let's not forget that with any revision of an engine you'll find better/newer ways to do stuff which increase the performance, and that's exactly what they did, as the first incarnation of Source on OpenGL on ubuntu ran at about 6fps, but after much optimizations (appearantly also on the drivers manufactures side) it runs much MUCH faster.. Doing the exact same thing for DirectX would propably also mean better and faster performance..
Also one point, how is the image difference between OpenGL and DirectX? So it's the source-engine running on OpenGL (with a completely revised graphics-path) that runs faster then the source-engine running on DirectX (with an 'old' graphics-path). Let's just see how DirectX performs when they've done the same revision.
Which one is better? who knows. Both have their advantages and both have their disadvantages.. If crossplatform with non DirectX platforms is your goal, than I would say go for OpenGL..
BUT!! people should also remember, DirectX is not the same as OpenGL.. Direct3D is the same as OpenGL, DirectX is much more than graphics alone.. And that's propably the reason why DirectX is more popular, you don't have to go out and look for all the different libraries (like OpenAL for audio, ODE for physics, etc)
What olympics? there is nothing left of the real spirit of the olympics.. The olympics was meant for amateurs, but it's hard to pick any amateur these days, most athletes are real professionals which get paid a lot of money (look at tennis with some people who played on the last wimbledon (which is for professionals, not amateurs), look at the american basketball team (NBA is a professional league)).. We should put the money that's spend on the Olympics into space research as that's where the money and future is, without proper and decent space research we will be extinct in the not so far away future..
it's just put on the business account from which also the artists are paid.. In regard to articles like this, a lot of people are soo biased and twist everything to make the industrie look bad.. Well, it's those entertainment companies who get the money, it's the entertainment companties who pay the artists (mind you, most artists are just some form of regular employee's).. But people think those companies do nothing for the artists and take all their money.. Well think again, does your boss give you extra money because the product you made sells much more? you have a contract with your boss, you read it, you signed it, and you didn't have to go for it if you didn't like it.. Especially these days, artists can record and promote themselves, but still they choose to go through the companies, why do you think that's still happening? Without those companies there wouldn't be the entertainment you like/enjoy/hate so much, but a lot of people still want it for free, and then bitch they rip the content because the money isn't going to the artists themselves.. How hypocritical can you be, you're worse than the companies the artists work for, because you won't even pay anything even though you consumed the content..
Because it's linux, it doesn't mean everything should be free. And if you think it should then you're just a cheap-ass lamer. It costs a lot of time to create games and content and also a lot of money, so why should it be free? You don't go to work for free, now do ya?
Ofcourse it renders faster if you remove a lot of bling bling.. I like the bling bling of windows 7 and I want to keep it for Windows 8. I HATE the fullscreen metro apps, yes they are excellent for tablets and phones, but oh so bad for regular desktop applications.
uhh, unless you're about a 100 years old, in your time there where enough SUV's around..
And I'm sorry, but I want a car that I feel comfortable in, and for me a Jeep is comfortable.. That doesn't mean I'm happy with the possible extra polution (I drive on LPG so it's already a little less polution as regular petrol), and I too would love for my Jeep Cherokee to be converted to electric if it was possible (and with the same driving distance of about 300km).
Why not convert old cars to electric if that's possible, have you actually seen the new electric cars like the Toyota Prius? It's sooooo F-ing ugly I'd always get the urge of running them off the road (just joking ofcourse, about the running off the road, not the F-ing ugly)..
this isn't the first time people try to convert their SUV's into electrical versions, I know a few people who converted their Jeep cherokee's. So why not google it.. It seems to me you aren't trying to put a real effort into it, especially with trying to get funding..
With the decline of firefox and the rise of chrome, they should really be worried.. The problem for them is, the ammount of Android/iOS devices out there, people already invested a lot of money in those OSses and aren't willing to part with those apps and games they already paid for. Also there aren't any real devices yet which support FirefoxOS and I don't really think the major companies will support it, too much fragmentation. I just hope (as an Android user) Google is going to optimize the dalvic much MUCH better, as de mono/moonlight devs proved that porting Android to C# improves the speed by almost 80%, that tells me as a developer that the dalvic is really a slow piece of crap.
This certainly can't be true, as what USPO officer has granted this even though it has prior art and isn't anything new. This is only possible if Apple stowed some money toward some poor civil official.. This should not have been given a patent status. what the hell is wrong with those USPO morons who didn't do their job in looking for prior art..
Personally I think by 2032 95% of all NEW cars will be electric (or some form of that). By then we'll have better charging and storage systems, the battery technologies have really taken off the last few years.. We'll also have some form of coatings on our vehicles which are like solar cells and extra energy producing components like the brakes which will also prolong the driving distance..
Assault is never good, but I can imagine the reaction, it will become a bigger problem, as people wearing 'camera's like and recording is an invasion of privacy.
It isn't the first time we hear stories about GS not investing in companies but telling their clients to do so.. I hope the Bakers get their billion dollars and GS goes bankrupt as they are ruining the whole financial market..
And then people complain about MS, which does still support old hardware, but then again, Apple is known for dropping support on 'older' hardware (and they call 2 years 'old' hardware)... Do you see Apple still supporting their 11 year old OS like MS does with Windows XP? Nope..
I think that's a good decision, also saves the taxpayer a lot of money as an Apple computer/screen costs a lot more than another system, and it's not necessary for the job they do..
How can you speak of a fair sport if all this tech is aiding the sportsperson.. I say let's get back to the original olympics, let them run barefeet and naked, and not use any technology during the race..
and why would a circumcized boy be more healthier? and how would it save $313 per person? the circumcision isn't free..
after reading this, it's clear to me that the trial should be repeated.. I already wondered why prior art which was shown by samsung was put aside..

Well, you have to start innovating before you can stop, and ripping other people's work and claim yours isn't innovating..
