I've had nothing but problems getting network hardware to work under ESXi. Three different NICs and none would work. It's very particular about what it will and will not support in my experience. If you're going to run ESXi, use Intel hardware all the way (chipset, CPU, NICs).
Not all of us get to choose what hardware we get to use at work. You and I know that you can build a great box for $400 these days, but many companies would rather burn many times that amount on employees waiting on their boxes rather than just putting money for hardware on the budget.
160MB driver? No, the driver is only 40MB, it's the crap that they bundle that wants to start up with your computer at every boot that takes up the other 120MB. Their corporate printer drivers aren't bad at all, they're basically a single INF file, but their consumer drivers are what crap aspires to be when it grows up.
Remember how Microsoft did when they bought Danger, the company that made the Sidekick? I think Nokia would like to remain the most widely sold phone in the world.

The full distribution also includes the newest version of the KDE desktop, KDE 4.5.2, but I'll be darned if I ever met a Fedora user who used KDE. Fedora has long been known as the GNOME's user GNOME Linux of choice.

Yeah, I read that line and thought at first "well, _I_ use Fedora with KDE". After reflecting for a bit, I realized that in the past KDE users (I got the KDE habit from Slackware) mostly went for a SUSE (also originally Slack-based) install. I always get the Fedora KDE install, but it's never seeded as well as the Fedora proper torrent.
Right. If the article stated that for the first time ever you could purchase widgets online at Ebay, when in fact I got a widget online from Bidz about a year ago, wouldn't it be worth mentioning?
I think the applicable quote would be something to the effect of "losers compare themselves to everyone else; winners compare themselves to their goals".
A bit off topic, but I'd like my fellow slashdotters to do me a favor... If anything ever happens to me, pour out a 40 into the gutter for a money makin' thug. Then pour out a caffeinated beverage into the gutter for me. I'd prefer RockStar, but Monster or even English Breakfast Tea would suffice.

Yeah, it's down for everyone.

What are your long term plans for this project? Any chance it'll ever ship with VS proper?
Jeremy, I shall carry the torch even if the the Commander is down. It's what he wouldn't have wanted.

vi(m) vs. emacs on slashdot? Seriously? People have lost limbs for less than that around here.
Sense depth and produce a heat map, for starters.
Guys, this is great news. Let's all start texting each other and then we'll be three times more likely to get lucky! I love statistics!
There should be a top ten list of rising stars among evil companies. (But who would hold slots #2-10?)
Oracle.
Just realized that parent was saying his post was off topic, not GP. Sorry, cold medicine. :)

Yeah, but you were in double digits last week :P
You don't want to know...
[...]Admittedly not as much of a problem for the male folk in the room[...]
You must be new here.
Have you tried Slackware? It's got BSD style init and no tools that don't play nice (you make your own tools).

What about Cydia?
Just because it isn't official doesn't mean it isn't worth mentioning. I got my google voice app from Cydia a long time ago.
[...] I swear, this is the least informative and most entertaining Slashdot story I've encountered in a while.
You gotta' admit, both of those bars have been set fairly high.

To be fair, he had it coming to him. Can we agree on that?
What about Bob?!
