You do understand how a lever works, right? A longer crank arm will give you more power to climb hills, less perceived effort to pedal (shoot, less effort to pedal, forget the "perceived") ability to turn higher gearing.
That all happens if you have a longer crank arm. But a longer crank arm means further from the center of the crank, not as in more metal that twists around

Should it be free to attend the theatre? Should your tv be free (it is a create work after all) and your car and your clothes?

People pirate because they are cheap. Or because they don't have other access to it. You are probably the only person in the world, who pirates to 'stick it to the man."
Piracy does hurt people. It hurts the ones that creates, and it hurts the ones that consume! It hurts everyone. It is not a victimless crime. Of course Verizon shouldn't be the one policing you. But just because copyright laws exist, doesn't mean we live in a police state.

Copyright DOES still do what the proponents claim. Without copyrights we would not have many of the cool entertainments we have today. That is sort of the point behind copyright, you know the whole "to support the art" thing.
Last time there was a big copyright discussion, half of the people were talking about pirating Game of Thrones from the past 7 days, let alone the last 7 years. The only reason piracy would be less if the limit was 7 years, would be because there would be less stuff to pirate. NOT because people mostly pirate 7+ year old stuff.
While I think the current "unlimited" terms are too long (and unconsitutional) 7 years seems a bit too short.

I don't think copyright infringement is wrong unless you are making a profit from it.

You do know that you are making a profit from it. You know "a penny saved, is a penny earned." Because you don't spend money on your entertainment, you have more money to spend elsewhere. Your life has gained value, because you took something from someone else. What is worse, is by taking that item, you made it less likely that person will create more value for you.

As for your last statement, yes. The question is "how can you write more code." It doesn't ask whether you are writing bad code, or good code. The problem is, at least for me, I can work for a while. Sure my code might be bad, or it might be great. But I am getting the problem solved. But if I have to context switch, it takes some time to get back to where I was in the groove of writing code.
This has nothing to do with being clueless or not.

What a developer thinks, but not what managers who actually sees the forest through the trees think.

Yes you are right, the question was asking what impedes developer's productivity. Not "what helps managers be lazy." MANY meetings are for the benefit of the managers, and not the 20 underlings in the meeting.
Your second point is valid, but has nothing to do with meetings. Managers should stay on top of what their underlings are doing. This can come from the manager walking the hall once a week and asking the dev "what's up." And not a scheduled 1 hour meeting.
But for every status meeting, there are a half dozen other meetings that don't seem to do much. Don't do much that couldn't have been communicated via email.
I work from home at the moment, and get WAY more work down than when I am in the office. Mainly because I don't have any meetings, most everything is handled via email. Occasionally we do a phone/video call to resolve things. But this is mostly for my bosses benefit.
And yes, there are times when it is better to sit down with someone face to face. Especially when it is someone you don't know. BUT that doesn't mean it doesn't impede our productivity.

Searching for Maps in Google gives me, Google Maps, Mapquest, some lock map stores and Bing maps 9th.
Searching for Maps in Bing gives me Google Maps, Mapquest, and Bing maps in 5th.(well to be honest, bing maps is 5th, but a local map using bing is 3rd)
Ohhh the horror, and shame on Google for providing some local map stores! If it wasn't for the 6 local stores, bing would be 3rd. Maybe if bing was more popular it would be placed higher. Shoot it is at best 3rd in Microsoft's own search.

I all fairness, you can't really look at what Google is doing, but what other search engines are doing.
For example searching for "maps" returns google maps on google, bing, and duckduckgo. This implies Google Maps is popular.
But searching for "email" returns yahoo on bing and duckduckgo, but gmail on google.
Searching for "web browsers' is more interesting. Bing returns wiki, firefox, laptopmag.com, opera, free-web-browsers.com, cnet. Duckduckgo returns cnet, top 10 browers, web browser list, best web browsers, about web browsers, and several more lists. Google returns wiki, wiki, firefox, opera, chrome
It may be that Google is weighing some of their pages more, but I don't see much evidence that they are placing their stuff on top. Google listed gmail first and yahoo second, bing listed yahoo first and gmail second. But I bet I can find hundreds of other web pages that are listed like that between those two engines.
