    the turbo-tax program wasn't that bad, if they had something like that web based, it would be pretty easy to file online.

    They do. It's even free if your AGI was less than $25,000.

    I've been around diesel vehicles of one sort or another for quite some time and have never been bothered by the smell. In fact, I dislike the smell of gasoline exhaust more than diesel. But in either case, unless you plaster your nose right to the tailpipe, it's not that noticable.

    In a disposable, you are actually rewinding it while you shoot each picture, it comes unwound inside the camera already.

    That's actually not that unusual. My dad has a Canon EOS Rebel II (very nice camera for 8 or so years ago) that pulls all of the film out when you first insert the roll and then pulls it back in as you snap pictures.

    I'm curious... what causes some stainless steel to be magnetic and other stainless steel to not be?

    Al the current taxes on Fuel are due to violation of pollution statues in the US.

    A great deal of the tax on fuel (such as gasoline and diesel) goes towards the upkeep of roads. That's why you can purchase "on-road" and "off-road" fuel. If you can prove you're not using the fuel on a public road, then you generally don't have to pay the road tax.

    The washers and other hardware on the space station are most likely stainless steel (316), which makes them non-magnetic. So, I don't think magnets would help....

    I hate to burst your bubble, but stainless steel is composed of steel, chromium, and some other metals. Steel, in turn, is composed of iron, which is magnetic.

    Bottom line: stainless steel is magnetic.

    You may want to try manually updating the files included in the patch. I'm not sure, but it may just be as simple as replacing a handful of files with the updated ones...

    Hopefully, using satellite photographs of this resolution could help reduce the chance of such mistakes happening again.

    Well, this satellite may help Mexico's situation a little bit, if they only use the b&w images (at the 61cm resolution). Aerial photos (from an airplane) are typically about 1 meter resolution.

    Sidenote: Even in the US, property tax descriptions can never be relyed upon for land surveying purposes due to their oftentimes wild inaccuracies.

    Uhhh... They already do. It's called cable TV. Most of those movie channels don't have any ads.

    The trend has sadly been away from fuel efficiency. SUVs and diesel trucks hog the roads.

    Sidenote: Diesel engines are actually more efficient than gasoline engines.

    Please note: Turning Selective Availablity off DOES NOT provide civilians with US military-grade GPS.

    The satellites transmit two codes. A "C/A" code and a "P" code. Civilian receivers can only decode the C/A code, which provides a positioning precision of about 30 to 40 meters (w/o SA). P code is only available to the military and other authorized users (such as NATO) and provides a postioning precision of approximatley 16 meters.

    Turning SA off was a big help, but did you think the US Gov't was really that nice? :)
