Thomas Friedman gave a nice talk about this issue on Science Friday a little while back : http://www.sciencefriday.com/pages/2005/Jun/hour2_ 062405.html I think the podcast is still available.

Not to mention for "cheap bastards" like me, software enhancement + upsampling (ala ffdshow + Zoom) comes close enough for moderate-sized screens (19 ~ 30).

Fully optical computing (no OEOs) would rock, although how do you define a "clock" in the optical domain?

While that's great, now we get to deal with new problems - mode matching, mode conversion, dispersion, acceptance angles, etc.

Heh... the PortaPro looks weird enough as it is (IINM, it's still the same design from the early 80's). :P Sound quality is darned near unbeatable for a pair of cans that are normally ~$40 (though you can find it for ~$20 from time to time).

Heh... like the yuppies comment. Love all the douchebags strutting around campus with their iPods and white earbuds. I'll stick with my ugpraded Nomad Jukebox Zen w/Koss PortaPros, thank you very much ;)

That's my beef with eBay. Listing fees, final value fees, PayPal fees. :| I'd rather sell privately in the for sale / for trade sections of most tech forums.

MS could put out Dragon Knight 3 for the XB360. That'd draw in the otaku crowd ;)
