That sh*t really is dangerous. It they're strong enough, they'll slice off a finger or two if you'd like.
This is coming from a guy who "plays" with gorram powerful electromagnets in the lab all day;)
Actually, the graphics were pretty damned nice for their day. Sam 'n Max, DOTT, Full Throttle, Indiana Jones, etc.
Damn, time to bust out DOSBox again:P
We've reached a plateau in terms of how much power the average Joe needs.
Do you really need a dual-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 15,000rpm HDD to run office apps and do web surfing?
Other than vid encoding, games and the odd scientific app (MATLAB, PSpice, ADS, Cadence, etc.) my OC'ed A64 3000+ is bored out of its skull.
Should have thought to use the HTTPS link to instead. Although I managed to get to the verification page using the HTTP link, their dumbfvck servers didn't think that 8 + 6 = 14:|

Papers in lots of other areas are like that (networking, VLSI, power systems, what have you).
In some sense it's kinda like VLSI. We keep trying to put ourselves out of jobs by automating as much of both analog and digital design as possible. Only problem is, the damned analog won't go away (and digital is already past the point of basically being high-speed analog).
Exploding batteries, irrational comments on the PS2/3, etc.
$10 says that the Sony execs are joining hands and singing :
"Pass the doobie on the left hand side, pass the doobie on the right hand side...":P
It's kinda like trying to find an exact analytical solution for something as innocuous as the current distribution on a current carrying conductor for more accurate impedance calculations.
Major PITA.
Which is precisely why you should keep a clean, base-install image with full desktop/app customization, etc and update it every now and then (Spybot patches, drivers and what not).
Nothing beats the feeling of a "fresh" system after a ~15 minute restore (with everything just the way you like it to boot).
Not be to an a**hole, but couldn't you just grab an inexpensive nVIDIA card (eg. GF2-MX/GTS/whatever, GF4-whatever, etc.)?
Sounds like you just need dual-monitor support on TV-out + VGA/DVI.

You should go watch Ghost in the Shell ;)

Hello, my name is Jack Thompson. I'm a lawyerman, I sue you! :P
Okay. Is this before or after you can no longer play with "the bishop"? :D

Can't believe people are still actually using that PoS program that MS calls notepad. Been using Metapad for ages : http://liquidninja.com/metapad/

I think we're seeing similar trends for hardware review sites.

Have you considered partitioning that synthesis process? Then again, the partitioning problem is also NP :P
I think that there are folks that would just as soon use Kaspersky rather that Symantec or McAwful.

He forgot Bob! ;)
*Hint Hint* What kind of non-hidden / external storage/device bays are available on PC cases?
There's that special relationship again. Sucking on the American hind t*t.

You can take that and stick it up your pigu! :P

You won't find me leaving MS Office behind just yet, although it has technically left me behind :P
(using trusty old 2000 Pro version).
American McGee's Alice and Quake 3 look nothing alike... ;)
Fully agree on the market-share point. So do these guys : http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=20060 513
