Another option is to have a truecrypt file with party pictures that you don't want to show, and a truecrypt partition with the important stuff. You can always say that you have it just for the pictures, and the partition is not encrypted, it's just empty in case you need more space/different os, etc.
i think it would be easier if the ISPs start blocking any email coming from non-corporate users. If you want to have an email server at home, ask your ISP to unblock the port.
Then, all the grandma-zombie-computers will be unable to send spam.
I changed my x40 for a x61 tablet with the high resolution screen, and wow! an amazing machine.
Now I have to buy a new computer (my phd pays me one) and I have no idea which one to choose...
I assume you never cabled computers using token ring, nor added a new desk because the boss wanted someone else in the office.
I think token ring concept is excellent, but implementing it in the real work is a PITA.
This is really pessimist. I remember in University time, even phone cables reached over 80 db of signal/noise ratio.
In a telephone cable, the available bandwidth is about 2-3 kHz, and you can move over 30 kb/s.
I would expect next technologies to start using phone-like modulation, instead of +5/-5 V for a 1, and -5/+5 V for a 0.
Wouldn't be easier if all ISPs block the port 25, and you have to ask for it to be opened? Something easy, 1 page you have to sign.
Then, all home computers with non techie users will not be sending emails every time they get some virus.
I would have no problem to sign a paper to keep my email server at home. Even here in Germany.
I don't think that will make a difference. I haven't seen many people turning off the wifi/bluetooth on their computers. Sometimes they don't even turn off the cellphones. I remember once we were landing and a cellphone started to ring...
I think the cellphone prohibition comes from an era where the radiation of a phone was hundreds of times the ones we have now.
Well, I completely agree with oliderid. I have no plans to go to USA again. since I'm from South America, I have to apply for a tourist Visa, and that takes about 2 months, including a personal interview, plus USD$145, plus another tax when you enter to USA. Plus, you have to prepared to be freely humiliated by the guards at the entrance. I've been 3 times in USA, all of them before 09/11.
You can check "How to apply to a Visa" here: http://santiago.usembassy.gov/OpenDocs/asp/pagDefault.asp?boton=Doc28&argInstanciaId=28&argCarpetaId=690&argTreeNodosAbiertos=(690)(688)&argTreeNodoActual=690&argTreeNodoSel=690&argRegistroId=3613
On the other hand, I have a scientist visa (like a working visa) in Germany, and all the paperwork took me less than 3 weeks.
Seriously, if I can choose, I will not go to USA again.

"I don't ship internationally", come on! I'll never be able to buy something from you! Why don't you have a more flexible way, like a minimun number of stars, or only allow paypal as payment? Please, think in the other 95% of the world.
I think you need one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360168513403 I don't think any ccd can survive a shot with an 80mW laser. Unfortunately, you will be the last one recorded by the camera...

but if they mess up with my email, I'll cut the pay subscription right now.

What about a 50khz sound? It's not my problem if you cannot hear it...
