  1. Re:The PS3 version is second grade anyway... on UT3 Won't Feature Cross Play Capability · · Score: 1

Whenever you create an engine such as Unreal, you can count on PC's becoming better through the course of years. What would be otherwise a 'slow' map on a machine would eventually become chump change vs the advances in the hardware industry. When it comes to consoles, they just don't have that expandability. The main changes that you see in a console are firmware changes, and advances in graphics aren't a matter of slapping higher poly models in, but exploiting/engineering how to use best what you have. When it comes to Unreal, if a map is laggy on your computer you can always drop your settings. On a console, you don't have that option.

But, this guy evidently has failed to look at what most corporations are doing such as Gamestop. If an employee sells to a minor a Mature game, he's fired. Truthfully, if the kid wants the game, he's going to get it. I wanted Mortal Kombat when I was a kid, and so I sat down with my dad, and we talked it over. He asked what it was, I explained to him that it was a combat game that involved blood, and beating up other players. I even mentioned the fatalities. My dad, simply asked if I realized the difference between reality and fiction (I was seven at the time), and so we had a discussion about it. Once he realized that I wasn't going to Back-Back-B my sister, it was agreed that I could get the game. The only stipulation was that if friends came over, they couldn't play the game unless their parents allowed them to (who were called by either my dad or mom). I turned out fine, right? =P

    It all makes sense now!

Microsoft made Vista to release it's 'secrets' to its rivals! That way, once its all integrated everywhere, they can come out with Microsoft Winux! No annoying security messages, a great command line that works with the Gui, services that are tailored to the average user, and total customization!

Seriously, who in their right mind would want to integrate aspects of Windows? Sure it's a platform that millions are using, but with their continued mistakes, they won't have a foothold for much longer. Anyone who seriously is looking to engineer a better operating system should simply turn to the brilliant resources of the Open Source community.

  8. My own experience. on Is The Term Paper Dead? · · Score: 5, Insightful

Well, I thought I'd chime in one this. My mother is a High School English teacher, and she isn't quiet up on the technology behind cheating. Often times if I'm visiting, I'll help her grade her English Papers, like any good son should. During my mom's first year of teaching at a new High School, the students evidently thought that they could fool the new teacher on a paper about the Crucible. I caught 90% of the students plagiarizing. Most of them were word for word, others were modifications of adjectives, but the prior work shined through.

I suppose you're thinking that the children would have been suspended, or failed for the whole term? Unfortunately, they were all given a slap on the wrist, and my mom was only allowed to give them F's for that single paper. There were no write ups, no detention, no community service, nothing. The schools just refused to buckle down on it, which sickened me. Now, anytime my mother has papers to grade, I make sure she sends me a fax of any suspicious writing, and I do research on it.

More often than not, I catch five percent of her class plagiarizing per paper. This is after she extensively tells them that she had caught her countless before. Some children even have the gall to copy and paste Wikipedia articles word for word. It's sad times that we live in, and the United States government simply isn't proving a means to deal with it.
