And honestly... once you make that desktop, you may as well as stop all development except for bug fixes, otherwise people will complain that it is turning into the next KDE.
Then again it could just be typical ubuntu users are more from the newer to linux camp and thus complain more in general.
I think it is this. I had more problems using Debian's KDE 4.x branch (in relation to polickit action at least) than I have with kubuntu. I should give arch a go, though. I have plenty of time to mess with it at work.
You can use Konqueror as a filemager. It uses the dolphin backend but that is as transparent as all the kio and other backends that kde 3.5's Konqueror used.
Assuming that it works on compiz (which I assume is what you are comparing it to) you can change the kde window manger to compiz in the settings screen/
That said, what are the options? As far as widget toolkits go, I much prefer Qt - it's miles ahead of Gtk from programmer's perspective, and it's faster as well. But I'm not aware of any DE (not WM, DE - with file manager and so on) written in plain Qt, with no KDE4-style reinvention of the desktop wheel, and useless bells and whistles...... It's okay, but I'm still open to alternatives. What other options are there? (again, DEs, not WMs, so please don't suggest OpenBox etc).
Really, with the way this summary reads, do we even believe grandma could read the phonebook?
What is easier: 1) typing someones name and having the results appear right away, or 2) flipping through the thousands of pages until you get to the right letter?
Plus, even if I loved the cash back thing, I would only visit bing to go to ebay through it - google was still my search engine, so they didn't gain anything by paying me.
They took away from Google's referal bonus and received it themselves. So they did gain from it.
Now, they get to use those numbers to push their ad engine and pretend that there are tons of users using bing.
Practically the only button on the whole thing, other than the home key, is the volume key on the side. You really can't miss it. Or use the on screen control, that moves as you click the side volume buttons.
I have two buttons: the home key and the power key. There are no keys to the side.
The volume is was my mistake. I didn't realize that the ipod touch version I had did not have speakers so when I was moving all those slides, they did nothing.
I am sure I will figure out how to use the Andriod. Most people seemed to have read
All in all, it is a neat device, but I am saving my money for an android.
as me saying that the android was more intuitive. I separated that sentence from the rest of the post for a reason.
I am a linux user and can't wait to have a more open phone than the windows one I have now.
Most things are pretty intuitive for people new o PMPs. It sounds like you were struggling with it because of your learned habits from another PMP. Instead of taking a look around first, you decided that it was supposed to work a certain way and then struggled to figure it out.
Unfortunately for me, there are no 4g linux drivers out yet. Best we can do is get a 3g/4g device and only connect using 3g.
I am looking at the new andriod phones that can allow others to connect to it wirelessly. The HTC EVO looks interesting and I will probably grab it when the price comes down a bit.
Yep. My brother gave me his ipod touch a few days ago.
I had been trying to figure out how to sync music, videos, change the volume, fast forward, etc. Once I figured it out, it is easy to remember, but it is not very intuitive for me.
Worst is the inability to transfer my ebooks over to it. I had to create a server with all my books on it to get stanza to even see them.
All in all, it is a neat device, but I am saving my money for an android.
Same here in San Antonio but we use Time Warner. Grande is supposed to be the better choice in San Antonio (at least that is what the Time Warner sales rep told us) due to having new lines and more current technology.
Dolphin will do whatever you were doing in Konqueror most likely.
It does not even come close to matching what I use Konq for.
It is really sad they cannot make it work better for you especially since you provide such useful and detailed complaints.
I am looking forward to the response "It will be complete when it does what KDE 3 Konqueror did" which is just as useful and non-vague.
And honestly... once you make that desktop, you may as well as stop all development except for bug fixes, otherwise people will complain that it is turning into the next KDE.
Is there an arch kde dvd or cd? I don't usually have an internet connection.

It's been forked - latest change was 4 days ago

This might be what you are looking for:

The west has made it clear they dont want the army to intervene this time, but that is the only thing that can save Turkey from the Islamists.
That is because the West has become weak and thinks that the more meek it gets, the more everyone will suddenly love it.
In truth, our enemies still hates us and we are losing what allies we once had.
Why do we act like grandma's are so stupid?

That is what you should do. The Anonymous Coward I responded to was the one who stated that poor Canada would have to bend to US will.

I did a poor job trying to mock his post (I should have used sarcasm tags since I was going in and out of sarcasm mode.)
Don't worry Canada, America will convince your government to bring you the "freedom" of the DMCA soon enough!
Because the Canadians are spineless and have no clear sense of culture or independence. They are either copying the US or Britian.
It's sad because every now and then, Canada stands strong and shows us what it can be. Unfortunately, those times are rare.
In their defense, as it seems to be the EU and US's goal to become a world nation, this is no longer a problem specific to Canada.
On the plus side, they do have beautiful parks.

I was looking at that a few weeks ago but most of the reviews I read on amazon said that it did not work very well.
Did you experience better results?
I am not denying that there were a lot of duh moments for me.

This is a false assumption because I do not listen to music" so I have never learned how to use any PMP.
I am getting bored with exercising in silence so I decided to try this "music" thing out.

Version FIOS won't build anywhere in San Antonio.
You can use gdebi for that.
https://launchpad.net/gdebi
It has a command line, KDE, and Gnome interface.
I am trying to figure out what you listed that you can't do in debian.
Want to know which packages are installed? dpkg –get-selections
Want to verify a package's installation? automatic
Want to know, of those installed, which have been modified? debsum
Want to know what package owns a specific file? dpkg -S {/path/to/file}
Want to know every file that a package installs? dpkg --contents {.deb-package-name}
Also, a Debian package is just a compressed archive as well.
I think they are both useful formats and have probably borrowed a lot from each other.
The average Google user get $25 an hour?
Wow. I feel so underpaid now.
Take care of that how? By random napalm attacks against anyone who looks a bit shifty? ... There is no need for warmongering.
You have a very limited understanding of what the US military does if you think it exists soley for wars.
