    they delayed the release of Vista SP1 for other companies' drivers to be updated, isn't that the same thing? Whether you realize it or not, drivers are considered by most non-technical users, the resposibility of the OS.

    How many crap "Linux sux because my modem doesn't work" do we see?

    It goes both ways an MS knows that.

    This is purely selfish, but since I use sid, I wish Debian would release less often. When the "freeze" comes, I am left with a computer that doesn't have much to do.

    I use konqueror most of the time and sure wish mouse guestures were working in kde 4

    I run Debian. The only time I have to rebuilld the nvidia kernel module is with a new kernel (or an new driver version.)

    Yes. Time Warner "owns" the cable lines so the other company is not allowed to use them.

    And they seem to honestly think that lighting is waiting for a dish to pop up.

    In San Antonio we have Time Warner and Grande.

    Time Warner has an exclusive deal with almost every apartment (everyone that I have lived in) so it might as well be the only one.

    I could go for dish / dsl, but then I need renter's insurance to cover for $100,000 and need to leave a $300 deposit. (When I asked why, the complex said it was due to the increased lightning risk.)

    It doesn't matter if they code to standards or not.

    They will still run that damn browser test to make sure you are running the most current ie and reject everything else.
