Its extremely stupid to stereotype people based on their nationality. I have lived in the US for the last 15 years, but am originally from India. I write code for a living and have worked with tonnes of good and bad programmers. I have learnt that nationality and place of origin dont matter. I have seen dumb and smart people from the same country, same schools and colleges. I know of amazingly bright programmers from India, and know of a few dumb-asses from the IITs. It all depends on the person's attitude. Many folks want to sincerely do a good job. They work hard on their skills and improve all the time. Then there are those haughty idiots, who think they are god's gift to mankind. School and country-of-origin dont matter. India has a huge population and because of the biased sample size, you are bound to find all kinds of people. I used to work for a fortune 100 company which had a support center based in India, and have often seen support folks from India getting awards and letters of appreciation from customers in the US. Yep, the telemarketters who call from India during the wrong time of the day, piss me off no end, but that doesnt mean that they are dumb people. I have worked for tonnes of American PHBs with pea brains. I guess the/.ers who complain and stereotype are either biased or have no exposure to the world.

HP's Dunn Stepping Down
·
· Score: 4, Interesting
As a former employee of HP, I must agree. Today's HP is a far cry from the ethical 'roots in the garage' company I once used to be proud of. They fire workers who get anything done and keep the filth - it must be stinking up there now. I am watching with tears in my eyes, as Hurd and his band are tearing up the legacy of Bill and Dave. Bill and Dave must be rolling in their graves. May their souls rest in peace. HP still has some great engineers, but it wont be long before they all get booted out. From a company of engineers in overalls building amazing products, its turning into a place with PHBs in suits. RIP HP.

As an employee of HP who got laid off last week, I can say that both Carly and Hurd are screwing the company. Carly did a lot of damage, but who says Hurd is improving things. Its a myth. HP is still a hire/fire shop. I am an engineer, they laid off my entire team and are just retaining the PHBs. The project is being offshored to India. Dont be fooled by the HP stock, some of the company's recent decisions seem ridiculous. Fundamentals will have to win at the end.
I understand that every company is moving projects to India to save on costs, but what I find idiotic is the way HP is doing it now. They first laid off all the engineers who know anything about the project. Then they put together a team in India. They are now working on training the team in India and getting them to continue product development. In the meantime, when the team in India has to learn, customers who are using the product are gonna get screwed, sales of the product is gonna get hit real hard. Its just ridiculous. When the rest of the world thinks that Hurd is saving a lost company, as an insider until a week ago, I can say that its hurtling down the drain on its way to decline.
