You are and idiot, it was a joke on the rapid "semi-exponential" growth that transistor count has been regarded to have, and obviously cellphones will never outnumber the insects on the plant or atoms in the universe. Really? You wanted to put down an AC for that?
Ear plugs with larger muffling headphones over top. You can get ear plugs made for YOUR ears from a doctor and the headphones designed for use with chainsaws. You should then just hear your breathing, which can get really annoying.
Except that I put money into my bank account and take it out.I buy food with it, I guy gas with it, sometimes I burn it, literally, but just because it has a digital representation does not mean it isn't also real.
I used a tablet, with a bluetooth keyboard, for most of my school needs. Taking notes and web surfing. I wouldn't give up my desktop for anything, but I felt the tablet was sufficient for everything else.
One would think that as well as routine inspections, there is a semi-annual process to make sure the plant is still safe. Regardless of the raised standards since the plants construction.
I would believe that Japan's idea is:
A) Plant must meet current safety standards.
B) Plant must continue to operate within criteria for "safe" operation.
C) Plant must meet semi annual inspections.
D) After 40 years if plant still meets/exceeds current safety standards it can remain open.
Of course, as per slashdot, I did not read the article.
For a long time I wondered why John Travolta, being the scientologist that he is, thought that he was actually paying tribute to Hubbord. I read the book, and I loved it. Then I realized all scientologists are fucking nuts... thats it... there is no extra step called profit, they are just nuts.
In complete honesty, most people are in the same boat as aforementioned sister. My father has a PhD, my twin brother is an architect and my sister is, well she is a photographer, but still these are smart people. One uses a Mac exclusively, one uses MS exclusively, the third uses both, but I am constantly being called to take care of things because they aren't computer people. Just like most people here probably don't even change their own oil, which is actually easier than installing Windows once you get the hang of it. The fact that any software company defaults extra software to be installed betting that the user won't know/think that they don't want or need it isn't right, but unfortunately there isn't anything stopping them. I know for a fact that have never, with one exception, read the entire "Terms of Agreement" of anything I installed. Seriously, who does?
Honestly, I didn't mean Jew the shark... that was an honest typo...
It did, JewTheShark killed a guy...
Yeap

Many people spend and receive real money on ebay. I don't know anyone who doesn't have their paypl account backed by a bank account or card.

Calm down... its just software, you don't need to buy it.
Ok, to be honest I didn't look in to ALL of them, but AFAIK they are free...
They are all free actually, and Win8 has better multicore support and what not
There are many tools to make Win8 look and feel a lot like 7 here are links to them http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33642_7-57496506-292/how-to-get-the-start-menu-back-in-windows-8/ . I am sure many of us here are familiar with ninite.com , there is a installer for the Win8 Classic shell for even easier installation.
With proper permits yes, You and I will never get those permits approved, but NASA can.
I've found vice grips or good pliers to be more handy in that event than a hammer
Don't... feed... the trolls...
Sell it for $5mil, and get a very low paying job that you enjoy to keep you busy.
As the article correctly points out, at $1200~ 1980 dollars that is around $5000 today!.
Close, but about $1000 short
How is an eBay auction today relevant to the adjusted price of a [computer] in 1977?

Yeah, they did at least six months ago... That was when I saw it... www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlcLW2nrHam
"Well Yeah, all that cardboard, plastic, unicorn meat is cheaper than the IP so we aren't spending much compared to what we have already invested..."
Are we the only ones up right now?
Its possible that the idea was to throw us off their scent, by not profiting of this film... after all, they are smarter than me...
