I brought this issue up to some of the gentoo people at Linux World in Boston. Gentoo took a very long time to stabilize 2.14. For the first time I could remember, they were beaten by Ubuntu and Fedora Core 5 to a Gnome release. Yes, I know when you have to compile everything from scratch and there's 2E34 ways to do it it can be a hard thing to test. Still, I would like gentoo to return to it's bleeding edge glory days of old and have 2.16 masked with ~x86 in a week. The kick in the pants was the response I got at the gentoo booth, "Use slackware". I couldn't believe it. I hope their thinking has changed since then. We'll see if they are beaten yet again by Ubuntu and Fedora Core. If they are beaten, I just may take their advice.
I wasn't referring to OEM prices. I was really just messing with you on the last post. I think it's funny how you seem to have to throw in a personal attack in all your responces. Take that, Poo head!
Where are you getting SBS for $400? It's more like $1,000. A company saves $700 on licensing per Microsoft Windows 2003 R2 server they can avoid. Spitting the services up would cost far more than the cost of redundant hardware.
The left handed thing is serious. 10% of the population is left handed last I read some stats on it. How many things are made for left handed people? None. Even freaking doorknobs are designed for right handed people. Ever wonder why keys turn clockwise most of the time? Rise with me my brothers. Together we will do what's left and end this oppression!
Invest you money on a wife. You could make a return by charging slashdotters money for relationship advice. It would also keep you from spending a freaking insane amount of money on dinner and movies.
How can anyone not buy Vista now? It's made by such a swell company who goes out of there way to along with everyone. Just reading about them puts me in the mood for a picnic.
Honestly, I think this has more to do with getting there server product into the datacenter and compeding with (L)Unix then to compete with VMWare. Notice how there is no mention of porting thier desktop OS to xen? Due the the viral nature of a Microsoft server, when one gets into the datacenter suddenly you are forced into buying more products from Microsoft since nothing else talks to the freeking thing.
It means nothing at this point. It's only usable with Word 2007 and.Net 2.0. They are probably just trying to put on a show till all the government pressure is behind them.
Remember this is Microsoft. Talking about security is as good as being secure. It reminds me of their stance on interoperability.
Besides, pitching Vista as more secure may lead to some more sales.

It's all good. It's interesting that they let you buy the OEM without hardware. I will have to try that out next time.

Missed that. So back up your claim. Give me a link to this great deal. Windows 2003 SBE for $400.
I bet it's hard to install without the disks.

I am really stoked that there will be fewer viruses with SUSE 10. My virus plagued installation of SUSE 9 was really getting to me.
