  1. Thank God on RIAA To Stop Prosecuting Individual File Sharers · · Score: 1

My 89-year old next door neighbor who is blind and deaf got a notice was next, so at least she's safe.

  2. WinaMP3 anyone? on Do Software Versions Really Matter? · · Score: 1

Remember the WinaMP3 gimmick? That was horrendous, thank God they abandoned it, skipped "Winamp 4" (for whatever reason) and started Winamp 5 based on the old, working Winamp 2.

Off topic: Nero 5.5 is the highest version of Nero I'd ever touch. Has anyone seen it lately? It went from one of the best apps to utter shit.

Or, someone who thinks it's pointless to start with a friggin truck if you're trying to be fuel efficient..?

Or maybe he NEEDS the truck? Not everyone can get by with just two-three seats in their car. So why not make it more fuel efficient?

  6. My Experience [USA] on Have Mathematics Exams Become Easier? · · Score: 1

When I was in HS, I took the highest math offered (AP Calculus). At least half the kids in the class couldn't subtract two three digit numbers without a calculator. Most couldn't do it without pen (right, most kids didn't even use pencil) and paper.

I completely agree. I have a Yahoo account I use for spam.. but that's it?

  8. Hm. on Wii Can't Replace Actual Exercise · · Score: 1

I don't believe the study (or I need more information). Standing and moving around (such as Wii boxing or tennis, or whatever) burns many more calories than just sitting there and playing an RPG on Xbox360 -- this study isn't conclusive at all, with just six kids being tested.

I do agree, however, that it doesn't even come close at all to real sports, and that it should not ever be considered a replacement. Nothing beats a few hours on the courts :)

  9. 2 digit dates on Facebook Goes To 64 Bit User IDs · · Score: 1

So they're planning for the future, when they could possibly run out of IDs, and everyone is crucifying them for it. Are our memories that shortsighted, the "omg Y to K" chaos was only a few years ago, kids.

  11. Question / Answer on EMI — Ditching DRM is Going To Cost You · · Score: 5, Insightful

For $10 I can buy a physical CD, and get: 1) Liner notes. 2) Artwork. 3) Plastic casing. 4) Plastic compact disc. 5) Files on said disc which are lossless. I can then convert the lossless files into any format I want depending on my needs, put them on my iPod, put them on my hdd. If I lose the CD, I still have the files. If I lose my iPod, or my hdd, I have the CD. Why would I spend $10 on low-quality files that are DRM-infected that I can't do shit with, and that I can lose much easier? Oh yea, I won't. -ACA

  12. Dividing by zero is not a "problem"...... on Professor Comes Up With a Way to Divide by Zero · · Score: 2, Insightful

Dividing by zero is not a "problem". It's just IMPOSSIBLE due to the way we structure our species' math. If you want to restructure our math as we know it (which he basically does by inventing his own false reality, so to speak), then you're not solving any problems. You're just being clever, and designing another system.. which has been done hundreds of times.

  13. Let's not forget.. on Game Industry Folks Siding With the Wii · · Score: 4, Funny

This article fails to mention Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Two weeks was too long to wait for a Wii, so freezing yourself in a Colorado mountain top and hoping to thaw on launch date is the only viable solution. Didn't see them so stoked for a PS3 :)

  14. E3 1990s on GDC Floor To Double in Size for 2007 · · Score: 2, Insightful

The market has shifted. There will never be anything like E3 of the 1990s. With instant communication now a huge force in gaming, these giant events that cost companies so much money are never going to be as large as they once were.

It used to be a big thing.. it's not anymore, and won't ever be.

  15. Zelda, Mario, Rinse, Repeat on The Pressures on the Next Nintendo Console · · Score: 4, Insightful

As long as Nintendo continues the Mario, Zelda, (etc) franchises, their consoles will continue to sell with or without third party support. Fact is, their first party games are just THAT good.

  18. I don't use Norton.. on Why Popular Anti-Virus Apps 'Don't Work' · · Score: 2, Interesting

I don't use Norton not because I feel it's poor at catching/preventing viruses, but for the level of intrusion that comes with it. The Norton name, and especially Norton Ghost, are just a headache waiting to happen for anyone who installs it. I very happilly use FireFox 1.5 and the latest version of Nod32. Additionally, I don't open e-mails that promise a glimpse into Paris Hilton's private area. -ACA

  19. Paradox Of Abundance on Netflix Users Experience Paradox of Abundance · · Score: 1

Now sure how it's a paradox, but it's certainly true. I had 'obtained' hundreds of DreamCast games during the console's peak.. and never really had any interest to play the games--because I just had so many to choose from, I didn't feel pressured to select a specific title. Weird.
