Anyone who build Windows XP images that are rolled out onto both AMD and Intel machines should have long ago learned about the stop code 0x0000007E perils that come from the intelppm driver. The root of all evil here is that processors are not plug and play devices as far as XP is concerned and their associated drivers are hardcoded to start at boot time. Why the hell Microsoft has not taken the time to update intelppm.sys to check for a GenuineIntel x86 Family XX Model YY Stepping ZZ ID before touching HW specific registers is a mystery to me (I hope the conspiricy theorists amongst you will regale me with much food for thought).
With an operating temperature of 6000k how many do I need to heat my house? Could a central array of these bulbs combined with optical fibers provide all my heating/lighting needs and still achieve power savings?
The biggest bone I have I to pick with existing virtualization solutions is the lack of hardware accelerated graphics support. If this lock-in allows Hyper-V to share access to GPU accelerated rendering in a virtualized environment then I will be all over this like a fat kid on a donut. But then again, since when has M$ ever been innovative?
Has the RIAA stopped to consider that college students are spending as much as ever attending live shows? Downloading is not hurting ticket sales. Offering free MP3s with the purchase of concert tickets or club admission would probably earn more than copyright lawsuits. The RIAA can adapt or die. It appears to me they are more interested in licking their wounds than seeking greener pastures.
While it is good to see more talented people working in the medical visualization space, this is not really a new thing. Image Fusion has been around for a while now but it has not yet become a mainstream technique.
Given the insanely complex programming model required by the Cell processor I wouldn't be entirely surprised if all the PS3 Games ran just as well with optimized code running on a multicore PowerPC and a decent GPU.
Buttons have their use, you cant get rid of them. Agreed. That is why Haptic technology http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haptic paired with a touchscreen will be the next killer app for handheld devices.
The Taser camera released a while back is intended to provide an electronic record of the device being used. Anyone heard if the video from these devices has been admitted as evidence in a court of law yet? More importantly, anyone found any good taser videos on GooTube?
Discalimer: IANAAE - I am not an aeronautical engineer.
Isn't it true that airliners use most of their fuel supply during takeoff? Why not have a system that kicks in a locked autopilot if the cockpit door is opened for *any* reason before a plane reaches cruising altitude? An airplane isn't a particularily good weapon once 75% of its fuel has been consumed, or perhaps I've got it all wrong...
The low bandwidth of Bluetooth and the high power consumption of WiFi make this device highly unattractive for streaming multimedia. Why not an Ultra Wide Band (UWB) Certified Wireless USB connection? It has much more bandwidth and low power consumption as well.
Anyone else think M$ will simply buy another boatload of SCOUnix licenses to keep the case going and the spectre of legal hullaballoo over the enterprise Linux community?
These experiments were performed with 20 mm wavelangth sound. Thats 50 Hz to you and me. So how long until the guys with the subwoofer equipped cars convert them to hovercraft?
Anyone know if Windows Defender will catch the spyware component of this exploit? I suppose its a moot point since people who run IE unpatched aren't going to run Defender anyway.

...but hopefully only by the RickRollers of the world and not those who would abuse your personal information.
So who here has never seen the "Please Stand By" colorbars of death in the middle of the broadcast of their favorite show?

You mean the living hell that is the Lotus Notes user interface is going to take over my entire desktop? *Head asplodes*

Can I hire someone in China to go through the refund process for me for a fraction of the refund amount?
