That may be the case in the US, but in the UK things work slightly differently. If I buy a copy of Vista from a store and it is faulty, for what ever reason, I can return it to the store for a full refund or a replacement. The legalese is "fit for purpose" and "of merchantable quality". Clearly, a copy of vista with an invalid licence key is not fit for purpose.
In the US it's simliar, well at least at any large national retail store it is. While software typically cannot be returned if it is opened they will exchange/replace it for a copy of the exact same software title. Same thing goes for CDs & DVDs, you can't return them but you can exchage for the same thing if the copy you got doesn't work.
I told EBAY I could resolve this for them once they send the PS3 to my address in Nigeria. The payment through Paypal will not post to their account until after they have mailed the package. What don't they understand about this?
So if I'm running Vista and downloading Photoshop CS2 can I make an argument that I was doing nothing wrong as the program I was downloading wasn't even supported by my OS anyway?:)
Where's Opera on that list? We all know it's the best browser ever! This is a conspiracy!
Opera - Best browser in the world as we all know. (Tag lines should be at the top too I decided)

It 98% works in Opera when spoofing as IE.
WTF? How come the "downloads" cost more than an actual DVD? It's seems liked it should be the otherway around you know, like you should have to pay a "premium" price to have someone burn it to a disc for you and package it and everything. I hate this crap.
God I'm glad I'm not a computer noob and know how to rip a movie that I "already bought" to play on my portable or to store on my computer.
Opera works great with Google Apps, Google Calendar (there are even Gmail and Google widgets), etc. Just set Opera to spoof as IE and you get no warnings from Google.
I think they are just to lazy to test with Opera and other browsers other than IE/Firefox.
I just discovered Opera a couple of months ago. Will not be switching back to any other browser anytime soon. I tried Opera a long time ago when it was version 7 or 8 and I thought it sucked.
With version 9 it has replaced many apps I used to use. I use it as my IRC client, Email client(I use IMAP from my own server), built in BitTorrent client, has some cool widgets I use for music, I run web based MSN messenger in a Tab. Tons a little features make it fun to use and surf with. Opera gestures... the list goes on. Hard to explain until you use it and get into it. The other browsers aren't even close.
Very 'Amiga' like.
I only use credit cards that protect me from theft so that I don't have to pay for fuadulant charges. I have an insurance plan on my cell phone in the event it gets stolen, lost or broken.
What if your new Vista key code was assigned to "you" and it got out on the Pir@te Bay or something. Should you have to pay for the 64,000+ downloaded copies?
At work when I'm backing up data off YAFLH (yet another failing laptop harddrive) I usually run an AmigaOS emulator to transfer all the files.
When XP runs into a file it can't copy it aborts the whole copy process and you have to find where it left off and select all the files "except" the ones you already copied and the one that won't copy. If there are several corrupt files then you have to keep doing this over and over. Really sucks when you have to go through every single folder one at a time.
Using AmigaOS of course it tells me it can't copy the file and gives me three option: Retry, Quit, Skip. Just select MyDocuments folder or whatever and if a file is bad I just hit Retry a couple of times and if I'm sure the file is not readable I just hit Skip and it continues on. Those 1985 Amiga guys where so smart. Hope Vista has caught up!
Have you seen the "new" laptops with built in Fingerprint scanners?
You have? Good. First let us talk about "Windows Security" and the F8 key.
Ok, you find a computer and you want to check out the users pr0n to see if it's worth copying on to your thumbdrive. But, DRAT!, there is a password. Not to worry! Turn off the computer and turn it back on, start tapping F8 and go to safemode... What's this a new user shows up called "Administrator"?? Let's go in there. Look no password on this accout because 99.9% of Windows users don't know it exists. Control Panel, User Accounts, what I can remove anybodys password no questions asked? Sweet. Ok, reboot, AHHHHH look at all this pr0n.
Ok, now lets pretend this is a laptop with finger print scanner. Turn on and oops my finger print doesn't match! Imagine that. Ok restart and hit Mr. F8.
Yes, Windows is very secure.
Of course maybe they do have a password on the Administrator account but I do know they probably have a CD-rom drive. That takes about 30 seconds to remove all the passwords an all the Windows account after searching Google for 'NT Password Crack ISO'
What's real security? I guess use your cell phone as your main computer and never let it leave your sight.

Do they even manufacture 40GB HD's anymore? You certainly can't find anything that small in even the cheapest laptops anymore.
I guess only "MP3" players have anything that small these days, so to use it to store the latest in HD video content seems pretty silly.
Good thing I bought mine at BestBuy, GeekSquad will fix it!!

505 comments and no one has once mentioned switching to AmigaOS. Shame on you all!!

My pirated music collection just tripled in value! I guess it's worth the trouble to back it all up to DVDs now.
