I agree with you about Cedega, but you've missed the point of the article.
'Cider' will help Windows games developers to reales native Mac versions, with (supposedly) minimal chages to the windows code.
The games ported with Cider will therefore have none of the problems associated with Cedega, i.e. trying to run a game released for one operating system (e.g. Windows) without modification on another operating system (e.g. Linux).
