  1. Re:Do women write better code? on Do Women Write Better Code? · · Score: 1

Exactly! I thought this is only in our country, but it seems to be a global trend. I'm sure there are some brilliant female programmers out there. Good like finding them I say! Have you ever heard of a startup, open source project, new big company that emerged of female programmer(s)? I hold nothing against woman, but if she wants to criticize men for their bad programming habits, at least they are delivering and changing the world world around us, while women are busy decorating their 10 lines of code with 20 useless lines of comment and styles!

  5. Kuwait is becoming more like Saudi Arabia on Web Censorship on the Increase · · Score: 1

I totally agree more and more countries and becoming selective on what we get to see. In Kuwait, some ISPs already block Meta Cafe, part of YouTube, some political anti-government sites were forced to close down, we heard about Bahrain trying to block Google Earth few months back. Few days back, Major corporate ISP provider in kuwait, KEMS blocked Blogger for some time for still unknown reason. Kuwait also are working closely with ISPs to stop the what they calle "phenomenon" of VoIP technology, just because it's losing them money. I never thought a ministry is a commercial firm that has to raise money!

  6. To minimize teenage obsession of it? on 'Over 30' Section For Games Stores? · · Score: 1

I think a possible reason for this would be that people at beging of 20's are more motivated, have more energy and are more welling to adapt what they do in the game to reality. But still, this does not mean the game won't harm people over 30. And if it is so harmful, either forbid it or allow it with current known age rank. It would be embarrassing I have kids and I still can't buy the game I want. Not to mention that if the game is only for people over thirty, then the game would lose it's fan base, that is assuming most people under 30 will not find their way to the game!

  7. Some people know how to blame others to make money on YouTube Blocked in Brazil · · Score: 1

I have searched for this brazilian lady on google images with my Filter On, and she doesn't seem to be able to wear anything more than a Bikini. She decided to video tape her time with her boy friend, they didn't take care of keeping it safe, and now it's suddenly a nation wide issue. I am not supporting the nude videos here, but imagine if every celebrity video tapes her self, leak the video, spread it all over the world, and then she wants to be paid for it! I can see it the other way around. Why not Google sue her because she didn't take care of her personal video tapes, now its leaked all over YouTube, causing Brazil to ban whole YouTube, and costing Google money!

  8. Bill Gates history explains it... on Why Does Everyone Hate Microsoft? · · Score: 1

No wonder and doubt about it. Bill Gates have changed the industry, made people's life better, and he is a brilliant genius, and have always caught attention since his early years. Good to know that by the age of 8 he had already gone through the encyclopedia cover to cover! I wanted to know more why people hate, and how he made his colony. If you like to go through the book, which I really recommend to all "HARD DRIVE: Bill Gates and the making of the Microsoft empire" it takes you through his life since he was 7 years old until he dominated the market.

His arrogant personality, the way he takes everything as a challenge, even in donations when he made the silly comments on the $99 laptops, and how he abuse his domination to enter new markets. For example, Microsoft controlled the OS in the 80's, when they didnt have any to offer IBM. They acquired the whole OS from another company with a deal of 50K ! This is what made them what they are today. Later on, software makers Lotus and their 1-2-3 spreadsheet popular software. He used to say "we're gonna put Lotus out of business" or any other competitor name. This was his way of doing business. Either line them up, or smash them. His multiplan spreadsheet program was no killer to Lotus at all, so then they were preparing for DOS 2.0, according to undisclosed sources, there was a saying "DOS is not done, until Lotus dont run". They would put some hidden bugs here and there, difficult to track that would stop Lotus 1-2-3 from running. And it really happened, Lotus lost control on the market and went out of business after then.

Then comes the famouns Windows in the 80's as well, promoting it as the first GUI system, when in fact the technology was in XEROX and was first adapted by Apple. When Apple wanted a killer app to their OS, they signed with Microsoft to deliver Apple version of the Microsoft Office. Part of that deal ofcourse, was to deliver sample Apple computers to Microsoft to work on. When the release approached, Steve Jobs too late found out that Microsoft have been building their own GUI Operating System, too much similar to what Apple delivered as a sample for Microsoft. When Steve wanted to file a lawsuit against Microsoft, Bill threatened that he won't deliver the Microsoft Apple Office at all, thus keeping the Apple without a killer app. Jobs had to swallow the bullet and stay calm.

Few years later, when Apple was working on their version of BASIC for their OS, Bill found out and twisted their arm with similar threat if they dont seas the development of that project. And again, he wins.

This is a short description of the history, and you can still see it those days if you read more about the suits. Like his desperate attempts to kill Sun's Java technology by removing some of their components in the Windows JRE version, and the introduction of J++.

  9. Interesting, but doesnt seem true on Google's Silent Monopoly · · Score: 1

This is a very interesting topic, and possible as well. As for the Adwords, I am not sure how it works and theoretically, Google can always place the highest bit on their site and the money will come back to them. But what will they earn? Nothing but an additional hit, when they can make money out of those hot keywords. On the long run, this could cause them loss since most of Google services are for FREE and depend on the sponsored ads. But then again, this is just thinking and Google theoretically may have another word on that. Having tried all the suggested keywords in this article myself, only blog showed Blogger Ad on the top, and all the rest did not show any Google related ads! Maybe sometimes Google come at the top, but not always and you can still bit over them.

  10. I think they are fit to make it... on Ubisoft Aims For Number Two · · Score: 1

If Ubisoft can hold up their current progress, I would be surprised if they dont. EA is the largest because of the large number of subsidaries it owns, but all the action adventure games I've tried from Ubisoft are always amusing and bring new concept to the gaming world, from Beyond Good and Evil, Prince of Persia my favorite, to King Kong (The Gorilla part) They didnt do well in the human part. Another thing they have to be aware of is their subsidaries game quality. For example Legend of Jack Sparrow from Seven Studios does not meet up with the expectations for someone who tried Prince of Persia or others.

  11. But why is that??? on Sony Console the Worst Launch Ever · · Score: 1

I think there should be a logical explanation for that. XBox 360 launched last year as the only next Gen console, and while they performed much below PS3 in the E3 2005, still they were the only, and they managed to get a good line up of games for the launch. For PS3 and Wii, despite the competition and launching the two at the same time, they only got slightly below the XBox 360, so its not actually very bad for PS3 at least. With the high prices of the consoles right now, you can't expect too many will buy PS3 and Nintendo Wii.

I am a big fan of open source, and have turned quite a few to Firefox from IE. But with IE7 coming, they have made a big progress, even if they are still trying to catch up with what Firefox has to offer. On the other hand, we can see new problems arising with Firefox 2, and some inhereted from Firefox 1.5 like the excessive memory usage. I would say IE have won this round and Firefox need to act strong to bring things back.
