  1. The same is true for board games on The Misleading World of Atari 2600 Box Art · · Score: 1

I think computer games were just mimicking the board games. When you opened a Monopoly box, you did not expect the pieces to look as realistic as the box art. Even today, if you buy any of the German board games (Ticket to Ride, Carcassone etc.), the box art is a lot more realistic than the pieces inside. Computer games were NOT deliberately misleading anyone. They were just piquing our imaginations.

  2. Lenovo T series? on Portables Without Cameras? · · Score: 1

I bought a Lenovo T61 a year back that did not have an inbuilt camera. Perhaps the newer Lenovo T400s also provide that option?

  3. Linguistic proof against the article on Privacy is a Biological Imperative? · · Score: 1

I know for a fact that in many languages, there is no word for privacy ( for example, Hindi and some other Indian languages) . If indeed privacy was a biological need, I am sure languages would be able to express it adequately. The need for privacy is, at best, a creation of the western society.

  4. Re:Are you kidding me? on Vista Upgrades Require Presence of Old OS · · Score: 1

On a related note, its usually the IT department which will have to bear the brunt of this inanity. The "overpaid executives who leave at half past four" don't really care a damn about how their dead computer got back alive again! Computer repair companies like geeksquad etc., can charge for more hours to re-install stuff. So its only the "computer literate" home users, and IT people who will be unhappy.

  5. Re:Add Canada to that list. on Outsourcing Growing Beyond India · · Score: 1

I can make enough to survive on for rates similar to impoverished Indians. Its all in your standard of living. The benefit to my clients is mainly fluency in English (UK spelling) and ease of communication. They get superior service at rates comparable to outsourcing to the east. And I get to eat, and buy the odd package of cigarettes. While I sympathize with you, I cringed when I read the phrase "impoverished Indians". Also you ASSUME that you would provide superior service... its like us human beings saying "Man is a rational animal". And BTW, Indians use UK spelling too.
