  1. We must be talking about different things. There are free ebooks on amazon but afaik that's not a prime benefit
the Kindle Owners' Lending Library which is a prime benefit does require you to have a kindle.

I see they now offer something called kindle first which has no such restriction that lets you pick from one of 6 books each month. That must be what you were talking about.

I was thinking of the kindle owners lending library sorry I was not more clear.

  2. IIRC you have to have a kindle to be able to read a free ebook. The kindle app does not qualify.

Not sure what you're referring to exactly. Here in the US the example often provided is remember what happened to the native americans (aka indians)?

No it didn't work out well at all which is partly why every country AFAIK has their own immigration system to limit the number of additional people moving in from other countries.
but if you need an extra 30,000 300,000 people a year it's pretty easy to just let them in and you get to cherry pick who you let in for the skills you want backgrounds whatever.

I really don't like how the current system is not enforced in the US as the song goes "come to the USA there's no penalty to pay should you get caught illegally immigratin"

We have a rather large area that's covered with open wifi at work.

We have had problems with abuse. The people that were loitering around the building after dark were leaving litter everywhere. So wifi now gets switched off at dark.
The wifi is still open the rest of the time. We actually had not noticed just how many people were using it until we started shutting it off at dark and then people started walking up to the building with their phone trying to get a signal.

I feel it's a public service there are a few others in town that still run free wifi 24/7 like the library, walmart and mcdonalds.

Not sure how ours got to be so popular. It's only got a 12 Mbps dsl line attached.

But other than that we've never had any issues.

No it was quite well known you could ask any student back when I was in school the teachers did not care.

And nobody seems to have any common sense. It should be obvious just from looking at it how a pipe wrench works but some people insist on trying to use it backward and then complaining it doesn't work.

How all new gas cans today are so flow limited due to the safety valves and not being properly vented you can't get 5Gallons of gas out of a 5 gallon tank in 10 minutes

And how a 100 year old can not get their pills in containers that they themselves are able to open the pharmacy has pill bottles that can be converted to nonchild safe but they will not provide them pre-converted.

And It is my understanding that the school nurse will not check students blood pressure if a problem arises due to liability reasons.
