Funding is also an issue. There are many issues. But if you ask a teacher, they will probably say lack of parent support is the number one issue when it comes to dealing with problem children. Teachers can not, and should not be raising your kids for you. Problems with behaviour can not be fixed only in school, they need to be worked on at home by the parents as well.
Proper equipment, lack of staff, dated materials are all issues as well, but I wouldn't lump it under "lack of funding" because sometimes the funds are there, but they are not spent correctly. At least not if your goal is to have better educated children. (A school in my city just got a multi-million dollar field for the football team, but they still have portable classrooms due to lack of space).
"Also the badges contain name and age (grade) of the kids. If the kids forget to remove them after they leave the grounds then this is a threat to their safety."
Your other points are very valid. Bust most schools now require an ID that has the child's name and grade on it. Some schools even require you to have it visible at all times (around your neck).
And you can see every teacher on duty walking the halls to catch kids cutting class? I know of teachers when I was in high school that would hide to ambush kids that were skipping.
Huh? what are you talking about? I'm talking about the parents thinking their kid can do no wrong, bitching to the administration, and then having the teacher basically lose all control over his/her class.
Parents that either don't care about their child's education, or ones that think their child is immune to the rules or does no wrong are the real problem with the school system.
Okay, then just remove the extra cache stuff from the link. If they setup the cache BEFORE it gets slashdotted it should be fine, and since 95% of the people will go to the cache link, that leaves you to leave out the extra stuff from the URL and still be able to get the site.
Here is the description from the very site you posted:
"The packaging leads you to believe that you are getting a 'widescreen' edition (non-anamorphic) on one side that gives you more than the other side:
But after investigating both sides, it was quickly apparent that side two was an open matte version of the widescreen. And in case there is any doubt, here is the frame used in the packaging:
I believe Miracle Max's wife said it best: "LIAAAAAR!!!! LIAR!!!"
So, you will get more picture if you choose the 'Standard' side (as the packaging defines it). But I must say the video is much better-looking on the widescreen side. The colors are richer and more defined, whereas the 'standard' version is much more muted."
What? No it's not. It's Open Matte, just what most people have been saying. The only cropping going on was to get the "widescreen" version to match what the director wanted and what was shown in theaters.
They didn't crop, and then crop AGAIN.
The misleading cover is what the lawsuit is about.
It was actually to calm the masses that would call and bitch that the picture was getting chopped up. "why is the picture missing on the bottom and top of my TV!".
They later stretched it making everybody look distorted, then they ended up with pan and scan.
It was actually the consumers own stupid fault for not realizing that a TV doesn't have the same aspect ratio as a movie screen and calling to bitch about it.
"Also, short of re-wiring your house, you'd need to have network access at every phone you'd like to use."
Huh? you can get one of those linksys vonage box things, usually free or nearly free after rebate. They plug into your network and your exsisting phone line. You can use all your exsisting phone equipment. You even get dial tone when you pick up.
Some versions of the firmware won't allow bootp files to be recived from the ethernet interface. This hack lets you change the firmware to a version that does allow it. So it may still be a required step.
to facilitate a crime is still a crime. If you knowingly let drug dealers use your vacation home you never go to, it's still a crime, even if you're not the one dealing the drugs.
Also note that they are going specifically after trackers that are putting up torrent files to movies. Not after bittorrent, or torrents sharing, say, linux CDs.
People that post torrent files to say "The Incredibles" know exactly what they're doing.
And what would that be? If there's no copyright, there's nothing stopping somebody from taking the code and putting it into their product. They don't have to keep it GPL'd, they don't have to give the original author credit.
Please explain how this new version would work, still be free, and if so, why not do it now?
How? the way the GPL works is that it depends on copyright. Without copyright the GPL is worthless. People could "take" you code and do anything with it, not have to contribute back, or even put the GPL back on it.
Patents take time and money to get, something a lot of people don't have time or money to do.

School ids are nothing new.
