    Good news.

I was told by my patent agent today that my pointing keyboard patent was approved.

U.S. Patent Application No. 11/254,452 COMPUTER KEYBOARD WITH POINTER CONTROL

My keyboard allows the user to have all fingers on the home row for typing and with the fingers on the home row one can also point, click, type, scroll, backspace, delete, and esc.

The click buttons and scroll wheel are below the space bar and operated with one's thumbs.

My keyboard gives the user total control of the computer screen.

No more reaching over for the mouse.

My pointing keyboard has the precision of an optical or laser mouse, because it uses the same components.

A user will also be able to ten key from the home row in one version.

    The whole keyboard moves.

It is a high performance, high productivity, and comfortable keyboard.

    The world's fastest keyboard.

    The world's fastest gaming keyboard..

I will try to put up a youtube of it in operation under " pointing keyboard "

For my supporters and my patent agent Hal Bennett at Seed IP.

  6. Interface of the Future on The User Experiences Of The Future · · Score: 1

What has hindered the development of advanced scalable interfaces is the use of the standard stand-alone keyboard and mouse.

The repetitive hand movement from keyboard to mouse is a waste of time, energy, and frustrating.

User focus and workflow are interrupted when the hand moves from keyboard to mouse.

The keyboard of the future integrates the pointing function and performance of an optical mouse with an optimized keyboard layout, where the Delete, Backspace, and Esc keys have been located closer to the home row.

The user can point, click, type, and scroll instantly and in any order.

When the user has total control of the computer screen from the home row with an integrated keyboard/pointer, the battle between gui and cli goes away.

The gui cli can coexist on the same screen without the user having to move their hand to a mouse to use the gui.

The gui cli interface is the interface of the future. This was not possible before the development of the keyboard of the future, an integrated keyboard/pointer.

I have been using, developing, and perfecting advanced integrated keyboard/pointers for 3 years and have found that there is nothing that can perform as well as an integrated keyboard/pointer.

It dominates all other keyboards and mice in performance, productivity, and comfort..

I am writing a paper on the keyboard of the future for part of my Phd requirement and hope to present it next year.

I am also working on the interface of the future and find that the possibilities of an integrated gui cli interface are very exciting.

The interface of the future allows the user complete customization of the interface to the abilities and experience of the user.

The user interface is completely customizable and scalable from the novice to the expert.

With the keyboard of the future and interface of the future, the user becomes one with the computer.

  7. Advanced interfaces/the interface of the future. on Instrumented GIMP To Identify Usability Flaws · · Score: 1

Usability, gui, cli, and the stand alone keyboard and mouse.

The problem with program/application usability is the inflexible default program/application interface.

I have been working on the wasted repetitive hand movement from keyboard to mouse for the last three years. I have solved this problem with an advanced integrated keyboard mouse.

I have total control of the on screen interface and can point, click, type, and scroll in any order simultaneously and instantly without taking my fingers off the home row, and have not lost any of the performance or speed of a stand alone mouse.

With an integrated keyboard mouse, the debate between the gui and cli is a non-issue to me. I can use gui or cli on the same interface equally with no performance loss.

The problem between gui and cli was the stand alone keyboard and mouse. When you integrate the keyboard and mouse, you can integrate the gui and cli with big performance gains.

I have the same performance as if I had two hands on the keyboard and a third hand on the mouse.

I dominate current gui and cli users, because I have equally access to both gui and cli.

I can work, so far, across four 19" screens at will.

I am now working on an advanced interface that is fully customizable by the user that sits on top of all applications. It integrates gui, cli, and search.

We all work differently. We each need a personal interface. That is my goal, to have a fully customizable interface that sits on top of all applications.

I hope to provide my keyboard to financial traders and the military first, because of their need for microsecond input and control.

I hope to present my research and development on advanced input, interface, and interaction technology to a HCI or ACM conference for requirements for my PhD in advanced HCI.

  8. The stand alone keyboard and mouse is the problem. on On the Widespread Misuse of the Mouse · · Score: 1

    The Best of Both Worlds

The battle between gui and cli is a problem because of the stand alone keyboard and mouse. When pointing is integrated into the keyboard, the battle between the gui and the cli is a non issue and goes away.

From my research for a PhD in HCI, advanced input technology, and advanced interfaces, I have found the best solution to the gui/cli problem is a hardware solution.

An advanced keyboard that integrates the function and controls of a movable mouse into the keyboard giving the user total control of the computer screen without the user's fingers leaving the home row is the best solution.

The advanced keyboard I have developed and have used daily for the last three years is a keyboard that I can point, click, type, and scroll in any order simultaneously and instantly without taking my fingers off the home row.

I can navigate, transverse, and control up to four 19" screens so far at will. I just point, click, and type. On a spread sheet I can point, click, and type in one easy continuous motion to any cell from any cell.

Financial traders and military users where micro-seconds count are the most likely first adopters of this type of keyboard.

With an advanced keyboard or keyboard of the future, advanced interfaces or interfaces of the future can now be designed.

The interface of the future is an interface that is a personal interface that a user can personalize or customize to their preferences. It is open, os and application neutral, and accommodates gui, cli, and a search box equally. There is no delay or transition time to go from one to the other, you just do it.

We all work differently with our own personal preferences; the interface should not hinder the user and neither should the input hardware. The interface should be transparent or as Rob Pike of AT&T Bell Laboratories states: "simple, comfortable, and unobtrusive."

When the user has choices, they can make their own interface, a personal interface or a myinterface if you will, that suits the way they want to work and not the way they have to work dictated by inflexible default application interfaces. A personal interface is an interface that sits on top of all applications like the microsoft onscreen keyboard.

With a personal interface you make it and have it your way.

    Conclusion

The problem between the gui and the cli today is the use of the old stand alone keyboard and mouse configuration.

If you use an advanced integrated keyboard mouse configuration you can use an advanced customizable integrated gui, cli, search interface for increased productivity, performance, and comfort.

  9. Clicking with the fingers is optional. on Ergonomic Software Eliminates Mouse Clicking · · Score: 1

I got tired of repetitively moving my hand from the keyboard to the mouse, so I designed and build my own advanced keyboard that incorporates all the features and performance of a stand alone optical mouse. I call it the keyboard of the future.

I have eliminated the stand-alone mouse.

I can point, click, type, and scroll in any order simultaneously and instantly all from the home row.

I can click and/or scroll with my fingers or use optional foot pedals to click.

My keyboard gives you total and complete control of the computer screen all from the home row.

It is superior to and dominates all other devices in performance, productivity, and efficiency.

I do not know when it will be on the market, but it will impress you.

It also addresses the caps lock problem some people have (caps lock problem, over a 1000 comments on slashdot), and the delete, backspace, and esc keys have been moved to a more convenient place.

It is a high performance, high productivity, and comfortable keyboard.
