Well, solar cells pumping air thorugh tubes sure consume less energy then lifting tanks with rocket fuel up there constantly.
A solar cell driven air tube thing is totally self sustaining. Just like the rest of the elevator principle. Thats sort of the essence in the whole concept.
Why not went air thorugh the tube to as a correction mechanism?
No need for rocket fuel in a structure reaching up from the ground, just blow air.
Hell, we even do need air up there for life support and other things.
Air supply could even be used to produce rocket fuel in space.
Why do you claim they are making car's when they are not? They have teamed up with someone making cars like you sugested. While they could have approached the major manufacturers like Ford, its often much more to be gained from working with smaller companies. You can make a better deal in terms of profit splits, and you gain interest from venture capitalists as well as market interest that in turn increase the value of the company. When the snowball is rolling you will then get serious interest from the big guys, and they will be very interesting in securing their position. And you then have a much stronger position facing them.
I am no big fan of propritary software.

Anyone voting for them in the first place should take a moment and realize they voted for a charming sociopath. Myself, I think Clinton did a just fine job while the rightwings where attacking with Monica Lawinski propaganda. And the voters got what they voted for. Propaganda and attacs.
