  1. Re:I don't know on Should Chimps Have Human Rights? · · Score: 0

The basic question at the basis of this should be "Are chimps self aware?". Unfortunately the question at the basis of the argument for/against chimp rights seems to be are Chimps Human. Well although chimps genes are technically only 4% different than our own the answer is that no, of course they are not human. However should that stop us from things such as subjecting them to HIV ot Hep A, B and C just to see what a new drug will do? Of course these experiments have benefits but at what cost? These are much more important questions than are chimps human? I think we are losing perspective on this shole situation.

Why do we insist on playing god? Most of the time a species is introduced into a new area it is a disaster. Killer bees ring any bells?? So I ask everyone this...What is the difference between introducing a new species and genetically engineering a species to be stronger? This can only lead to disaster!!

Well we know genetically engineered clingons were a great hit so why not mosquitos too!!

  4. Goal of advertisers on Award-Winning Ad Taken Off Air In Australia · · Score: 1, Insightful

My thought here is that the goal of advertisers is to have their commercials remembered and talked about so that people will think about the product. Seems to me that by cancelling or restricting the commercial they have only succeeded in making the commercial even more succesful. Lst I checked there were 355 comments about it on this site alone. It is being talked about all over the world and I think that the commercial is a roaring success!! On another note --> Props to the person who mentioned that a 2 year old could not reach the pedals of the car. I mean it's really rock bottom when people complain about things like this when they're not even theoretically possible. I suppose they'd better take Loony Tunes off the air too because some kid might build an Acme rocket and launch his friend to the moon!!

"Earth is a spacefaring civilization." Overall an insightfull little argument but one thing strikes me as wrong. Earth is not spacefaring. Earth is more like space venturing. we have not colonized any other palnets, we have virtually no long term missions in space to speak of. I think calling humans "spacefaring" is kind of like calling humans marine animals just because we swim once in a while.

  7. Re:older news on Microsoft Slugs Mac Users With Vista Tax · · Score: 0

I also find it interesting that Gates would say "Consumers do not have the knowledge or technical expertise to run Vista in a virtual environment". Mac users, for example, are much more knowledgable (on average) than windows users. Most people who are not knowledgable are still afraid to use a MAC. This should not be true because with the creation of OS 10 Mac's are very simple to use but lets face it, it is still true. So I agree that what gates meant to say was..."duh...I need a 4th porshe"

Of course 5K won't cover it all but it's a great start and will get you back on yoru feet again after identity theft. Maybe you would have them offer no coverage at all? Take it as a good thing and don't be critical just to make yourself feel better. As for the other comments. I agree that if they honor it they'll be bankrupt within 2 years. I say even less. One virus that exploits one weekness could finish them off! I expect that getting them to honor their "warranty" will be almost impossible but lets hope!
