  1. Re:fer'ners on Intel Developing New Chip Designs in India · · Score: 1

I was just going to mention the same thing, and in fact is this really offshoring from a U.S. perspective? Perhaps the Israeli group thought it should go to them, so in effect, were really offshoring Israeli jobs to India. Wonder if Israeli engineers are mad as heck right now.

  2. Attempt to re-distribute the wealth? on Indian ISPs Taxed for Generating "Light Energy" · · Score: 4, Interesting

I'm curious as to whether or not this isn't an attempt by the Indian government to try and help re-distribute the wealth to a degree. My understanding is that there is a growing urban/rural conflict emerging as the elites in the major urban areas are growing wealther and wealthier due to outsourcing by wealthier nations to India and the rural areas continue to be rather impoverished. So the net impact on the populace is only going to be really hitting the urban areas and the new tax revenue could be used through-out the country. Not saying I like the idea of this tax, I'm just speculating on what could be the root idea behind it.

  3. Humans should stop messing with a good thing on Engineering Food at the Molecular Level · · Score: 1

It seems the more that humans mess with food, the worse we make it. I remember when my mother starting using margarine because it was better for us than that bad butter. Guess what, the hydrogenated stuff is now apparently much worse than saturated fats. I'm going back to the basics. The less humans touch it, the better it probably is for us. I've even taken to picking up more organic stuff at the grocery store, not that I'm an environmental nut or anything .... just seems the more we make things easier for ourselves like pre-packaged salads or spinach, the more things seem to go wrong.

  4. Every little bit helps on MySpace Organizes Sudan Fundraiser · · Score: 1

Although I think that the organizers are attempting to hitch a ride on a hot-topic issue that celebrities are rallying around, I still believe that it's a good cause and deserves our attention. It's such a shame that organizations like the UN seem unable/unwilling to address these types of problems globally, I'm starting to wonder whether or not the UN still has a place on issues like this. It seems that US billionaires are doing more good in Africa than entire countries, and even small companies are trying to help in their small ways. The US may still suck according to most people in other countries, at least I believe we're still trying to do good, even when the attempt is very naive.

  5. Not so impressive on Creating Water from Thin Air · · Score: 2, Insightful

Water out of thin air? I'm not impressed. Every morning when I leave for work I need to wipe off the windshields of my car as there is so much water on it without any rain happening. Bought the dang thing to get from point A to point B and it's always producing water. I'll bet if we parked it into a desert an oasis would form!

  6. DirectX 10 on Best Gaming Video Cards for the Money · · Score: 1

And speaking on this subject, the vast majority of serious gamers who purchase these cards would recommend waiting until the DirectX 10 cards become available, they should be coming onto the market shortly in anticipation of the release of Vista. This will apparently be quite an upgrate from DirectX 9.

Better yet! Buy two and run them in SLI mode on a SLI capable motherboard.
