I have a Garmin Nuvi, and I love it. Yeah, it's touchscreen is unresponsive and it's CPU is slow, but it's rock-solid for actually driving around. I'm also a big fan of the whole "firmly stuck to the windshield, not on battery power, and has a responsive speedometer" thing. It was also $160, compared to all these phones. It also tells me the current speed limit, which is a feature I have yet to see elsewhere.
I'd actually love to give an Android phone a chance, but a dedicated device that is semi-permanently mounted and fuss-less is a big draw for someone who depends on it.
If you've got nothing right now, I'd go Droid on Verizon, pay 40 bucks for the unlimited data and use Google Voice for routing of your calls and LD service.
I don't believe you can do this. The people at the local VZW store and Best Buy's phone center told me I cannot get a Droid without a voice plan. If anyone manages it, PLEASE tell me how.
Indeed. Last year I talked for a while with a friend from the Forest Service in Pinedale, NV. It was sometime in late June, and he was telling me how horrible these gatherings are. He said in short, that they came in in VW busses and set up camp in the forest, without proper sanitation, garbage collection, etc. He said they were mostly drugged up constantly, many were naked, and they came into town and got into fights with the locals, shoplifted, and did such things as urinate on produce (so the shop owners would throw it away and they could collect and boil it) and generally spooked everyone.
He complained mainly that they had no real provisions, and it was his duty as a government employee to make sure they didn't die of poor sanitation, lack of water, medical emergencies, etc. It was also a tremendous financial burden on the local governments.
My personal opinion of the "rainbow people" is very low. Now, I know this is one-sided, but I'm more inclined to believe a hardworking family man who's been working there for years than a bunch of neo-hippies who wander around causing trouble.
He also said they left a terrible mess and destroyed large patches of ground. Quite a testimony from people who supposedly worship nature.
Interesting...well, Limbaugh has a history of not losing slander lawsuits. I don't know if that's because he can afford crack lawyers, or because cases like this aren't brought because he's right.
I know little about his internal workings, but I'd bet he's far more careful about what he says than casual observation would suggest. Just listen critically to how he phrases his sentences. He makes them hard to clip apart and take out of context.
Hey, this is supposed to be a haven for geeks. How can you claim to be a geek or scientist if you've never tasted urine? It is mostly sterile, after all...
The institutional reeling is manufactured, because it is a convenient reason to exercise extra powers and spend more money. (Powers not granted in the Constitution, but that people will put up with because, "it's so scary.")
I have one! "Here, take this gun, take this class, stuff it in your back pocket, and get on with life!" There, now you can walk around and not worry about the boogeymen, and someday, when you meet a real one, you can do something about it. (Now, how do I insert ??Profit?)
When I was a small boy, I had a friend who lived on a farm. This lad tried it and relayed to me that it's just as bad as it sounds. (Also, in my observation, urine streams do not tend to break apart, and urine also is VERY salty.)
Call me gullible, but why is that concept so laughable? Sure, WND's article about is is really bad writing, but the idea that soy (which does have a lot of estrogen) being fed to babies affects them doesn't seem outlandish at all. When a man gets a "gender change," isn't estrogen the main ingredient to the prescriptions?
Don't expect the Republicans to save us from this atrocity as their party is officially dead (thanks GWB). In fact, don't expect anyone to save us. Were all fucked now. I hope you all find company among misery, because that's all we have left now.
Ignoring her general media ineptness, Sarah Palin actually made a very decent governor (especially with regard to the budget).
Now, I'm just a little peon at a PC, but from what I've read of her I don't think she has the power-monster streak of people like Pelosi or GWB. I've still got a little hope left that if Matthew Continetti can write her some more good speeches, we might get an executive who behaves like an executive and just runs the place. I honestly believe that she hasn't sold her soul like most everyone from every party currently in power.
Pain seems to be the same sort of above-average-but-normal citizen that Reagan immortalized. But I'm probably just dreaming or tricked by yet another illusion.
How should he be held responsible? Removal from the radio? While we're playing the if game, what do you think should happen if it were shown to be true that the White House was diverting funds? How should they be held responsible? Removal from office? (Not trying to start a flameware, just testing SETIGuy's bias here.)
In addition, google only allows a-z, . and 0-9, so you can't register john-smith@gmail, john_smith@gmail... etc... You actually need to have different letters and number combination than anyone else.
So that's why gmail addresses are so much more legible than anyone else's!
My cynical side says that Google isn't kidding. If you were an ISP, wouldn't you prioritize other services over https since you can't know what it actually is?
Actually, I work a computer shop that sells the new Clear WiMAX. Customers can take a modem in demo mode for two days and it "just works." When they order service they keep the same modem, but it will start redirecting them to a page to set up their account and agree to legal rubbish. Problem is, the page is https with an invalid cert. I'd say easily half of my clients call me about this scary error.
I think the decision to make cert errors bouncing-flashing-up-and-down scary is actually working. (As for the error, no one can tell me why it's that way. The Clear techs haven't a clue.)
It's been a while, so I don't recall specifics, but Kdenlive crashed frequently for me. Not nearly as often as Jashaka or Wax 2.0 (Windows!), but enough to make me save the file religiously.
A few threads above the problem of focusing optics is mentioned. If you have optics to focus your eye on the screen, you cannot see normally. If the point is simply to have 3D glasses, how is this any different than what we have now?
Microsoft hates that mentality. Therefore, they are moving to a subscription model with Office 2010. But they've got a tough road converting the huge base of Office 2000, XP, 2003, 2007 people who have a license into infinity.
Jobs just said it starts at $499.
My old retail XP box also had eXPerience on it.
Odd...mine is a 255wt (although the traffic feature isn't provided for my city).
Actually, I have a Garmin Nuvi 255wt, and the North America street maps were huge (~6GB iirc) when decompressed.

*cough* Homosexuality is much bigger in Japan than in the US...

But, but, Limbaugh lost 90 pounds!

Not so fast. I bet a nickel your ISP prioritizes HTTPS lower than HTTP on their network.
