    This isn't redundant. It's a fair point. This demonstrates some design failure that could have been used to mitigate another had it been done correctly. I know the iPhone is a great device but so much about it is not quite as perfect as it should be. I think I'm going to wait to purchase until v2.

    Umm, ripping from streams is definitely harder than typing a filename into a text box, searching and double clicking a track to download. It's this ease of use that made P2P so prolific. Even Joe six-pack could do it and mp3 files were no longer the domain of underground IRC communities and FTP shares.

    Are you storing massive amounts of data? Column stores are probably not for you...

    Not always. I work in the financial services industry and manage a database called kdb+. It's a column store database which for us stores market data. We collect around 10 gigs a day. The reason that a column store database is used over row store is that analysis on a single column (most importantly time) is very straightforward and way more performant than what could be archived by row store.

    I watched a documentary which drew similar comparisons but with rape added in there too. Nasty aliens indeed...

    Actually I was just being a dick and only gave you half the story. They're pretty much interchangeable as you know but there are certain cases where one will sound better than the other. Also, which should be used for 'specific' selection criteria. For example:

    What year did you learn calculus? (No selection given)
    Which year did you learn calculus? Third year of fourth year?

    If in doubt, google away...

    If you need religion to guide you on these topics there's something deeply wrong with your life. As well as inate human morality, most people live under a rule of law that dictates a much more balanced and just moral code than any religion could provide. Anyway, I see plenty of religious people killing each other on the news and generally being naughty boys. Why? Because of religion. Go figure...

    I can't think of any better way to get jailed than to embarrass and irritate the high-level diplomats of 100 countries.

    It's also a good way to see 100 countries over your lifetime. However Gary McKinnon recommends leaving the US until last. That stop takes quite a long time.

    Also I can imagine these being chained up to form a larger network of routers and gateways. I wonder exactly how big a network like that could get?

    This could be a cheap way to build a campus wide or even city wide network.

    I'd just like to not that this is the English education system only. The education in other parts of the UK, for example Scotland, are way more sensible. I'm really quite proud of the education I got there.
