Wow, you seem to really know a few things about him. Your views and opinions are certainly riveting reading. Sure he might be more of an asshole than the public are aware but take care not to make this a very personal character assassination. That's a dangerous game as that sort of thing always becomes a public mud-slinging contest. It seems this guy has screwed you over once already, don't put yourself in the position where he (or his comrades) can do it again.

Also, I wouldn't worry about the fame thing. It's impossible that it will last more than a days news story unless something really bad happens.

On the minus side, all you political dissidents should watch your back. :)

I see the point you're making. There's a lot to be said for being a balanced person. If someone looks after the intellectual, creative, social and physical aspects of their life then they are likely to be a more attractive person as a whole. A lot of LUG type guys are usually only developing themselves in the first of those four areas.

It never happens, you'll always get a better job than you have now when you return.

I think this could be one of the best things to ever happen to you. This is a chance to really live differently for a year, and not have to do it by yourself either. I say go for it, if you don't get an I.T. job in Vietnam don't sweat it. Open a bar! :)
