    Curious. I too have been linux only since 2003, but I recently used a Mac for 2 days and loved it. Not enough to give up linux but enough to vehemently encourage my Microsoft touting family to change to Macs. (I'm still working on my delivery... 1 out of 18 or so converts isn't great.) Given a choice between the two and I'll promote Apple first. Though linux would suit all bar my financial advisor brother -- personal macros in excel stopping him...

    So living in USA can have an advantage! :( Australia does exactly the same as Britain; I've been looking up and down the east coast.

    I had no problems using OO in a uni that shared all info via Office files. Everything; video, audio and text. Damn annoying, but surmountable. (teaching degree with a peek into computer programing... where they were teaching java via doc files... gah.)

    I did something similar (made a cube of mirrors) but couldnt figure how to observe the light without letting it out.

    The Queensland Education filter blocks the Bureau Of Meteorology site. They block the websites that teachers use to teach the students. They make us return to 80's edutainment software because a lot of schools cant afford the better quality education software. (I am a grunt tech for EdQ.)

    Okay, you have one fan, who disagrees in practice with a few of your ideas. Run for parliament at the next election under "Reduce Political Power" or something. Heh, you are hard core. I tend to be anarchistic (capitalistic) and my friends baulk at my ideas. I do hate the corporate feudalism we are becoming.

    Stop maligning the poor; the people I know with the largest music collection of downloaded illegal music/movies are all considerably better off than myself (I don't do the copyright infringement thing... all creative commons etc.) and I am by no means poor.

    Except for the potential disinformation capable of breaking lines of communication up. This ends up that the individual/small group don't know that there are others with a similar idea or problem and simply put up with the suboptimal situation.

    The argument against anonymity also seems to have roots in the idea that only criminals need and want privacy. I believe that privacy should be a right, not a privilege.

    Except that is probably what the IT guy said. OP wasn't me, but I've seen and probably said similarly stupid things. I'm not a windows bloke so what do I care about AD? (I'm learning, I'm learning...)
