Apple is slick package marketing. We pretend we're different because we bought something different. My problem with this: quality is more important than appearance. Should be obvious to any /.:er.

As Ron Paul said it, Left and Right are artificial constructions to distract people from substantial political issues. Democracy is a charade and people supporting it are voting for their own death.

That's right; who are we to say that spam is BAD? Isn't that kind of...nazi-ish? I've heard the same arguments from racists in my community: "I don't like other values conflicting with my own, so I'm going to repatriate the immigrants here." I defend spammers, they're realists who use the system to their own advantage. Good for them; each to his own.

Your argument seems to be this: an enough quantity of people will be able to discern propaganda/lies/illusions from truth/reality, therefore democracy is a good idea. Apart from being a poor, inductive argument, you seem to have forget that most people aren't educated in state affairs, apart from what they see on TV. This means their perception of reality is largely a product of media manipulation. Did you ever check out the documentary by Brian Springer, documenting how false this media surface really is? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7344181953466797353

Instead of praising "OS purity," how about integrating closed source code to fulfill a function in OS software? We don't need false dichotomies.
