  2. ERC-721 on Major League Baseball Is Going Crypto (engadget.com) · · Score: 1

Hello, I'm the lead author of ERC-721 (the "Non-fungible Token Standard" or "Deeds") which is how collectable crypto-assets can work interoperability with crypto-collecting wallets.

I believe this is the technology that is implied to power MLB Crypto Baseball.

Right now I am skeptical that this project is real. First all of the news is related to ICO/blockchain news/nerd news. Can anybody point to a press release or Tweet FROM Major League Baseball that confirms this licensing deal is authentic? I have seen other crypto companies that announced a deal with Visa and Mastercard, later to find out that those companies did not actually authorize any deal.

Also the website here https://www.lucidsight.com/ does not have a trademark symbol next to MLB Crypto Baseball. Nor does it have a registered trademark symbol next to the MLB logo. Nor does the bottom of the website say "The MLB logo is a registered trademark of Major League Baseball." So I'm going to say this is pretty much bullshit. I went to the LIMA licensing conference in Las Vegas this year -- entities like MLB don't draft rookies like Lucid Sight.

In other news, the 0xcert promo video (I'm an advisor to them) did just release a promo video listing collectable baseball cards as a target use case. So we are planning to make this work. And if MLB is reading this, call me.

  3. I need to understand why RSS is not working in the real world.

It is because people just don't read any more? Or because publishers don't care about less-engaged RSS visitors versus high-engaged direct website visits and facebook referrals? Or because the hub is too expensive to run versus the advertising revenue (which Digg didn't have)?

    ---

Originally RSS was thought to be a many-to-many protocol. Apply quickly taught the world that many-to-one-to-many is a superior model and it is how you get push notifications on your phone. Fortunately, RSS works with the this model (PUBSUB) using Digg Reader et al. And unfortunately, Facebook also fills this role.

Staying informed is very important to me so I want to learn why RSS is failing in the market. RSS is a unique way for me to read what I want, in chronological order, without censorship, and without giving out my personal information. But I can see this value is not important to everyone.

  6. I support the authority of any government to lawfully query any company under its jurisdiction for as much data as it wants.

The ultimate problem here is that companies still control all your data. The long term solution is you should have a "my cloud" box in your basement. That's where your data lives, or at least the O(1) encryption keys for the O(n) amount of data you have elsewhere. In that situation government will need to request data from you directly if they want it.

There really is a strictly technical solution to these problems and we are getting closer every day to the solutions. https://security.googleblog.co...

California has a population of 40 million, this is larger than 200 countries. If California can negotiate a great deal by itself then I don't expect the US as a whole to do it much better.

Also, California voted 140% democrat in the last election. Literally. If California can't pass single payer healthcare then clearly the idea is too extreme for the whole country.

Be careful, when we talk about "government" there are different governments.

Yes. I use Digg Reader. And the CTO of Digg replies when I Tweet that there is a problem with the service. And years after they opened it they still provide the service for free and without any visible attempt to monetize it.

Also, notably this is the first time I read a /\?$/ headline where the answer wasn't no. Actually when I read headlines with question marks my bicameral mind (the "reading voice"?) automatically reads a no at the end of headlines with a question mark. As in: "Can McDonald's finally make a premium burger work? No."

An alternate reading of this news produces the following news:

      * Government agencies and political parties have continued the discussion without a modicum of doubt on document authenticity.
      * Agencies have successfully dominated news cycles on this topic and zero discussion has been made regarding DNC primaries tampering.
      * No mass media has mentioned, let alone considered why, Chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Communications Director Luis Miranda, Chief Financial Officer Brad Marshall and Chief Executive Amy Dacey all resigned from DNC.

That is the real news in my opinion.

  20. Whereas my agreements with temporary tenants are mutually consensual
and there are no complaints from my neighbors
and justification for this law is to control housing prices
now therefore I do not recognize the legislature's authority to make this regulation.

I will continue to rent out my room in short terms. But I will now call it a long-term lease with early cancellation provisions. Or I will call it a house sale with temporary back-out period. Or I'll call it housesitting.

This generation is finally getting involved in local politics in the best way. They are circumventing the letter of unjust laws and following the spirit of the correct constitution. This demonstrates knowledge of law, civil disobedience and allegiance to the constitution, what could be better?

      * The Economist -- does not investigate complaints about Trump and parrots the left's analysis; does not acknowledge any criticism of HRC
      * The Intercept -- reporting on Trump includes thorough analysis and opinion, reporting on facts critical of HRC include no analysis or commentary

In fact the only balanced piece I have seen written was in Glamour magazine's op-ed written by the editor! It explained the contemplative process of voting in this election on page one and explained the issues voters face. Then page two was a bunch of claptrap about how women need to vote for a woman.
