geocoding photos
Considering it's approximately the one-year anniversary of my page about geocoding photos, I think this capability is pretty much oldnews. A more interesting question is, why hasn't Google added maps to Picasa Web Photos?

JelbertedUm, I kind of think submitting your own product to Slashdot is a bit tacky. There are lots of other alternatives, and the Sony GPS-CS1 that sits in a little corner of my backpack is a heck of a lot more convenient than what looks like quite a bulky chunk of equipment sitting on top of a camera.
I have reviewed the Sony GPS-CS1, and I also have an extensive webpage on geocoding photos using GPS or manually.

list of photo sharing sites
I offer up my list of photo sharing sites. In particular Pbase may not get the buzz of Flickr, but it hosts tens of millions of photos.

portable DVD = picture frame
Another option is to get a cheapo portable DVD, in Canada RadioShack has a Nexxtech for C$149. Burn your photos to disc and away you go.

happens to me all the time
Most people are quite good about it and take the copy of the page down or respect my mirroring conditions. Others however, ignore all my requests.
For example, here my most popular page, which I use Google AdSense to pay for (cover bandwidth costs etc.)
Here is a ripoff of my page, with the email address changed, I'm not sure why. Maybe to claim a set of skills? I wish he would take the copy of my page down.

defense in depth1. disable the service 2. you may also want to add a software firewall, or enable the built-in firewalling, or both 3. you may also want to add a hardware firewall
My links on Windows Security Software should give you some starting points.
Also note that PPTP uses not only TCP/UDP but also GRE (protocol 47).

Re:Any legit use for 3127?I suggest you look the port up. In the IANA port list or you can use any of a number of searchable port lists.
They will tell you the port is IANA registered by EMC for CTX-bridge. It's up to you to decided whether that counts as a "real application".

Windows NET SEND saga
This was also asked before and before that and before before that. And if you search Slashdot on "messenger", many other times besides those three.

Re:Investing Help ...
1. Be careful that you know the target audience for the material you are reading. Some of the Canadian material doesn't apply to Americans and vice-versa.
2. As lame as it sounds, I actually found Personal Finance for Dummies to be quite good.
3. I have a page with additional Canadian-oriented information: Money

Port 135I just wanted to mention again that port 135 is an issue with some of the new tools, so just blocking standard NetBIOS 137-139 and 445 won't solve the problem.
There's more information on my broadband security page in the NET SEND section.

Re:online photo printing (in Canada)
There are also many online photo development services available to Canadians, see Tables of Online Photo Service Sites.

i.Link?I hope Sony will be getting rid of their iLink trademark and using "FireWire" too.
Saying "FireWire (Apple's trademark), formally known as IEEE 1394 and also called iLink by Sony " was always a mouthfull

major labelsThe 5 major labels have consolidated into two groups:
* MusicNet - AOL Time Warner, Bertelsmann, EMI
* pressplay - Sony, Vivendi Universalfor more information on (legally) downloading music in Canada, you can visit my page at

Personally, I like Emusic.com the best. Real MP3s. One price for unlimited downloads. Artists get compensated. Sweet.
