Re:did you see the oscars?
On the other hand, there was applause at the end of Good Night, and Good Luck when I saw it last week at the Alamo. That made me proud of my community.
Even if it is basically just the Crucible being retold. ;p -
Re:Why can't we let market forces rule here?
... and even this wouldn't kill off all theaters. Heck, I've been waiting for a good movie to release, because I want to go back to the Alamo Drafthouse for dinner.

Re:Obligatory...
hehe congrats on the 15... I used to live in Wichita, and I REALLY miss the Warren. One of the best theaters in the country. Thankfully, we have http://www.alamodrafthouse.com/ down here but nothing as luxurious as the Warren.

Re:His biggest problem with the filmActually, nobody serves popcorn with butter.
Alamo Drafthouse Theater serves real butter on their popcorn - one of several reasons why I prefer to see movies there.

Re:Why does this not seem right? Everywhere...
If they are available to you, just visit the right theaters. My sister was in town to vist this past weekend, and we took her to a movie at the drafthouse. She was amazed that, before the movie began, there was no Coca Cola slideshow with stupid trivia and ads. Instead, there were funny/interesting film clips from old old TV, movies, and ads. (In this case, they were 1950s clips of robots, as the movie was, well, Robots.)
When the movie started, they showed 3-4 film previews, then started the film.
Last week my wife and I went to a Muppet Movie singalong. Before that film they played music from the Muppet albums while showing old TV show clips. (The host was one of the Mr. Sinus guys and his wife, and he had some games before the movie.)
Remember, they are getting money not just for the movie prices, but also for the dinner. They recognize that they don't need to bombard us with ads, and we appreciate that by only seeing movies there. -
Re:Info
I saw both seasons in the entirity at the Alamo Draft House. It's an interesting little story about a group of soldiers stationed out in the Halo world. It's mostly a comedy of errors staring a spanish-speaking robot, a couple ghosts, and some really stupid people. All in all it's a lot of fun
:-)
The creators actually stayed for QA after each showing at the Drafthouse. Gus even gave out the shirt off his back to one of the audience members.. it was, er, strange :-) -
Always at the Theatre!
I almost never watch a movie over again. The theatre is much much cheaper. My typical movie experience consists of:
Tickets: $5 x 2 = $10
Beer: $3.50 x 2 = $7
Food: $5 x 2 = $10
Of course, the number of beers goes up depending on how bad the movie is.. but that's the great thing about the Draft House, no matter how bad a movie is, you can order enough beer to make it better :-)
