Re: wonder why
He has addressed the issue of having his clothes made overseas. He says the decision is to either make the clothes overseas or not at all. People won't buy clothes made in the US because you would have to charge much more.
Gosh Trump must be right because who ever hear of a successful clothing company making clothes in the U.S. today?
If only there were evidence that Americans would willingly pay a bit more for an honestly labelled made-in-America label.
Because there is just no way Trump would simply be making easy excuses for doing the lazy thing, while also padding his bottom line a bit more. No sirree!

I'm a woman. And I shop at H&M.
I'm a woman. And I shop at H&M. I'm wearing an H&M sweater right now, in fact.
I don't see H&M's virtual models as anything different than the plastic mannequins in the stores. It would be nice if they were identified as such, that's all. I just had a look at their web page and while some of the models are obviously synthetic, some look like they might be real women. While they have other issues, I applaud American Apparel for using realistic-looking women in their ads. I shop there, too,
My viewpoint is different in another way. I'm tall and leggy, of reasonable weight, and I exercise regularly. I actually do look like a model. OK, I'm 50, so an older, retired model. Big deal...

Re:Dated Technology...
Nylon gears are cheap. Sure, your fridge won't last 50 years, but the fact that you can buy a fridge for pretty much the same price that you could in 1950 makes up for it. And to top it off, the new fridge is more efficient... it pays for itself in a very short time. Even if the 1950s fridge lasted to infinity, it would still be cost-effective to replace it... so why design it to last so long?
I hear you on the sandwiches... and what is this "open-faced" crap?
:)I don't know why you have so much trouble with shoelaces... I hardly ever have to re-tie them... maybe the brands I buy are just different?
T-shirts. I'm not picky about t-shirts, but I'm tall and relatively slender... just have a gut. You can still get USA-made shirts, but they cost a tad more. Google for it, or just buy from American Apparel.
When you wrote that article, volume knobs were nearly extinct in some products - and you are right... it was a nightmare! But the digital radios have one feature that is superior to the old analog models: volume equalization. This more than makes up for the digital step size in volume output, IMHO.
Timing chains? Please! Give me a pushrod any day! You youngins!
:)I like one-handled showers
:) In particular, I like the hotel-style idiot proof ones where you have to sweep through the cold to get to the hot.I like boilers with radiators better than the "octopus" heaters. They are noisy, though! I agree about the power piles, but I'd argue that the unbelievably inefficient octopus heater should go and you can spring for some kerosene heaters in case the power goes out. You'll pay for those kerosene heaters (or the eventual hotel room) in the first month!
I can't argue with most of your "Good Riddance" items. I'd say you should have carburetors on there. The simple ones are fine, but the emissions-laden monstrosities of the 80s were absolute nightmares, easily on par with points and distributors. I'd also point out that some good hand tools still can't be beat... a good ratchet set for instance.

Re:Most kids stuff is crap...
There's a lot of information on the web.
You can get a couple of chapters of an eBook here about buying American: http://www.howtobuyamerican.com/index.php
You can buy online a lot of places -- though I suppose it's not too easy to tell whether the place is being honest:
http://www.buydirectusa.com/
http://www.usstuff.com/
http://www.madeinusa.com/
http://www.americanapparel.net/Shopping at Walmart should really be the absolute last option (below not buying whatever thing at all).
And here's a blog where a guy appears to be attempting to make a list:

Re:quick...
Don't worry, there's still plenty of that available on the web.

American Apparel
when was the last time you bought clothes that were 100 percent made in the US, with US-sourced materials?
American Apparel makes fantsatic t-shirts here in the US (LA to be specific).
Although I don't know where they get their source material (they'd probably mention it if it was US-sourced, but I couldn't find mention of it anywhere on their site).
